Whichever left-populist candidate makes it furthest in the primary can be more or less nuked from orbit the second they make their stump speech about top vs. bottom and corporate elites by whichever candidate says "not sure about all that, I'm here to take out the MAGA trash actually"

Idk, I just feel like maybe liberals and leftists should save their venom for MAGA instead of partaking in circular firing squads??

How am I a bot?? 😭

I still can’t believe that a nut job exclaimed, “They’re eating the cats, they’re eating the dogs” and millions of Americans said, “That’s the guy I want as president.”

I think a lot about how many states keep loosening oversight of homeschooling while other people get this kind of punishment for their kids just being outside
A mom of five was convicted last week of delinquency of a minor. Her offense: allowing her 5-year-old son to walk about a half-mile by himself in their gated community.

The government also placed Karyann Parkinson on its child abuse and neglect registry, where she will remain for seven years.

Something I don't entirely understand is that this woman's career is deeply inspirational, and she's gonna have stuff named after her for her courage for decades to come.

And yet you basically never hear her discussed as a trailblazer and role model in lefty settings. It's really fucking weird!
Sarah McBride on her message to trans youth:

"You matter and you're not alone, and there are a lot of people, not just here, but around the country who see you, who love you, and who are fighting every single day to make sure that all of us are treated with dignity and respect."

Honestly watching them co-opt very real normie wine mom anger into the idea that everyone was joining a leftist revolution was pretty gross from the start, but this is nothing but voter suppression two months from the first opportunity to actually check Trump’s power.

Remember when the left used to be anti-IP? 😓
I remember the internet when fighting for transformative use was the whole point. Everyone loved transformative use and hated copyright. Now I’m supposed to ask permission to do math on pixels. What the fuck.
i am very sick and tired of people bringing up "consent" as a reason for why transformative works should be disallowed. yes even when the transformative works involve lots of complicated machine statistics. firstly; consent is for sex and risky activities, not "am i allowed to use bits of your work"

The most frustrating thing about the Twitter acquisition is that Musk won. He successfully took over the conversation hub for the US elite class, started paying 4channers subminimum wage to post for an algorithm that boosts far right content, and now "women shouldn't vote" is in the Overton Window.
i hate twitter so fucking much

Very sad to see Rick get driven off of Bluesky by sharing a report of using Claude Code to do something cool and useful.

The absolute vitriol towards software developers trying out LLMs—which are very good at writing code, mind you—is so tiresome.
I won't be posting here anymore. The toxicity is fucking ridiculous. I'm very disappointed.

The media relentlessly promotes the narrative that progressives are too mean to anti-vaxxers and we must bring them around with compassion.

This isn't true and isn't helping. The more public sympathy you show them, the more empowered they are in their beliefs.

Lol, good. Unlike the teachings of the far-right Evangelical types, Catholicism is not anti-social nor alarmist & anti-science. The Church has pretty explicitly said they view vaccination as a moral obligation to the common good. The opinions of individual anti-vax "Catholics" are irrelevant.
This is the funniest shit.

Florida allows religious exemptions for vaccines.

Catholic schools in Florida: we require vaccines.

Florida's attorney general, who is Catholic, is threatening to pull vouchers if they don't allow for religious exemptions

The Bishops: separation of church & state
Catholic bishops remind attorney general about separation of church and state
“The government may not decide that Church teaching is insufficiently religious,” wrote the Florida Conference of Catholic Bishops.

It's just insane that the president tells absurd, easily disproven lies on a daily basis, and at this point we all just expect it.
Trump: "At one year, you should have 5 separate visits for vaccines rather than getting them all in the same day. I've seen proof of where they have a vaccination thing that looks like the size of a bottle of soda and pour it into a little child's body."

It was also nice volunteering for something non-political. Although... Quite a few people were asking about their chances for getting Irish citizenship bc they wanna leave the US 😭 Mood.

My diehard MAGA neighbor in Orlando is done with Trump.

It wasn’t the corruption.

Not the authoritarianism.

Not the cruelty.

Not the bigotry.

Not the xenophobia.

Not even the Iran war.

It was the prices. Gas and groceries.

He says he sees now that Trump just doesn’t care.

He’s finished.
