1943 - Cab Calloway and the Nicholas Brothers - Jumpin Jive
Kind of a nightmare trying to decide which clip to post for 1943 as Fats Waller, Duke Ellington and of course Lena Horne also have clips from Stormy Weather which simply have to be posted - this one can make up for leaving out Cab in 1931.

Really not the best quality film here, but the best that's available, and we really do need to hear from The Boswell Sisters, the act that The Andrews Sisters were trying to be.

1929 - Bessie Smith - St Louis Blues
A standalone performance on set with a story and a cast built around the song, is this the first music video? Cant think of anything with a better claim to the title. Even if you don't think so, what a performance!

Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey is a timely and powerful reminder that being on a boat totally sucks.

Country's got a real joy deficit above everything else. Knicks win, World Cup going well until Trump ruined them is proof of that. Just create constant excuses for celebrations and parties. We need excuses to hang out more than we need maybe literally anything else, economically.
