Random thought of the night. Has the phrase ‘speaks the Queen’s English’ been updated to the King’s English now or has it always remained the same?

TIL that classic Brit-soul single 'Baby, Now That I've Found You' by The Foundations was written in the same bar where Karl Marx wrote Das Kapital.

Never owned a Dolly Parton record but I’m mourning the loss of a beautiful soul who despite being in a sector of the music industry not known as being the most progressive, would unashamedly support the marginalised and oppressed. Rest in peace Dolly x

Official Record of Support: Back the Biggest Wave of Insourcing in a Generation
Outsourcing companies frequently compete to win public contracts by reducing costs: it's a race to the bottom on the pay, terms, and conditions for their workers.

Someone’s been waiting 30 years for the right platform.
Oasis have good melodies but rhythmically they are utterly lacking in groove and swing, just lots of plodding mid-tempo songs. Rock n' roll is music to dance to, as much as anything. They seem to have forgotten that.

Labour in ‘deep trouble’ with Black voters, Operation Black Vote chair warns
David Weaver says proposed jury reforms and slow progress on equality risk eroding support in marginal seats
Labour is in “deep trouble” with Black voters, a former government adviser has warned, saying the party is at risk of being seen as “accepting the normalisation of racism”.
David Weaver, who is the chair of Operation Black Vote (OBV), said the government’s plans to restrict juries would “heighten, normalise and embed” racial disproportionality in the justice system and that Black voters were saying: “We don’t know what Labour stands for any more.” Continue reading...

Labour in ‘deep trouble’ with Black voters, Operation Black Vote chair warns
It’s hard to see why any of these MPs choose to stay in the party. I get the feeling that Labour would welcome Nigel Farage and Tommy Robinson over any of them.
The Socialist Campaign Group need to be booted out of Labour. They’re poison to our Party and are the media darlings called upon to bad mouth Keir Starmer and the Party. Enough is enough. Call them

Is it sectarian when Reform talk about Judeo-Christian heritage? Is it divisive when Starmer talks about becoming an island of strangers? Is voting on religious lines an issue when Kemi declares her ethnic emnity towards Nigerian Muslims? It is weird to be so fixated on this discussion suddenly!

Push for good nature news before polls with reintroduction of white-tailed eagles, pine martens and beavers in England
White-tailed eagles, pine martens and beavers will be released across England before the May elections as the Labour government attempts to staunch the flow of nature-loving voters to the Green party.
Plans to reintroduce these lost species to the country have been mooted for years, but the previous Conservative government failed to get them over the line after opposition from landowners and its own MPs. Continue reading...
