For those who use CamAPS in Australia and wondering where Liberty is, I was told at EASD that it would be fully rolled out by 6 Oct so hopefully in the next 24 hours or so. As to the difference? Apparently it is more aggressive at auto-bolusing than CamAPS Classic

I never hear mention of 'diabetic thumb': a small callous that develops on the skin of the lower bone of the thumb from opening drink bottles. I got it prior to diagnosis and have a mild version since going on SGLT2i's ;)

That is a wrap for #EASD2026. Thank you to #dedoc⁰ for allowing me to come. I have just enough time to see Da Vinci's codex before heading to the airport and back to Australia.

Interventions that were tried but did not delay T1D progression, such as Barictinib #EASD2036 #dedoc⁰

1/3 of T1D adults are misdiagnosed as T1D and while thry do not go into DKA as much as children, they progress more slowly with higher c-peptide levels giving more opportunity for intervention e.g. delaying insulin need by two years with Teplizumab. #EASD2026 #dedoc⁰

Screening works at saving lives. Screened children did not go into DKA. #EASD2026 #dedoc⁰

Diabetes rates are increasing the most in low income countries but it is the high income countries which are achieving the WHO targets for managing diabetes. #EASD2026 #dedoc⁰

The sleep study indicated 8 hours was the sweet spot for glycaemic control #EASD2026 #dedoc⁰

Good sleep advice for T1D #EASD2026 #dedoc⁰

I am reliably informed that #skechers are an excellent shoe for conferences like #EASD2026 where each lecture theatre is in a different postcode/zipcode #dedoc⁰

A study looking at smart insulin pens and how people responding to missed bolus alerts do better. However the best TIR was still 60%, so inferior to AID. Choice is good but I'll personally stick with my pump. #EASD2026 #dedoc⁰

Study on hypos during exercise on AID. Aerobic exercise is riskier. Regular exercise and using exercise mode on the pump help minimise the risk #EASD2026 #dedoc⁰

Minimed show the results of their fully closed loop system. Basically 70% TIR and 50% TITR compared to 80/60 with announcements #EASD2023 #dedoc⁰

Dual hormone system vs MDI and normal AID/Looping. No significant improvement compared to AID and a lot of dropouts because of the high maintenance of the dual hormone system. No clear benefit for dual hormone systems. #EASD2026 #dedoc⁰

Growing evidence that Semaglutide is effective at addressing addictions. #EASD2026 #dedoc⁰

Not all GLP-1s are created equal. Sitting in on talk where they are saying the success of Semaglutide and Tirzepatide is the addition of a fatty acid molecule to stop it being cleared quickly from the body which happens to other GLP-1s such as those from diet #EASD2026 #dedoc⁰

Comparing intermittent energy restriction to time restriction eating, IER led to more weight loss. Neither improved HbA1c but both reduced the need for T2D medication in 2/3 of participants. #EASD2026 #dedoc⁰

Sometimes the presenters have some fun with their slides. Anyone who has eaten modified sugar sweeteners in bulk can relate. EASD2026 #dedoc⁰

Second low carb study over 6 months showed no significant change in LDL with best adherence with a moderately low carb and improvements in TIR and TAR. 2/3 of participants dropped out of the low carb diet and there were 3 severe hypos. #EASD2026 #dedoc⁰

Sitting in on a set of 'low carb' sessions. First point made is that while weight loss is seen in short term studies, the long term efficacy is less clear. This study looks at using meal kits to caddies this. #EASD2026 #dedoc⁰

Dysglycaemia is very predictive for T1D in children but less so in adults unless we increase the threshold. #EASD2026 #dedoc⁰
October 1, 2026 at 8:06 AM
It is also really hard to differentiate adult onset T1D from T2D using the common measures. Even antibodies drop off with age. #EASD2026 #dedoc⁰
