The best summation of the current state of AI so far.

I cannot tell you what absolute fiction this is. AI is heading for a crash and this cackhanded Terminator narrative is being engineered to save them. The fact that the unsubstantiated testimony of a former employee has been the top story on BBC News all day is absurd and irresponsible.

OpenAI won't even consider renewable investments in Australia until the country agrees to kill its copyright laws so they can freely train on creative work.

When Albanese caves and agrees to this, OpenAI will just run on fossil fuels anyway: guaranteed.

I resigned from ExxonMobil today. I spent the last three years doing fossil fuel extraction research at both BP and ExxonMobil. Neither company is acting responsibly. They are racing to maximize extraction while the window to act closes, and gambling with our lives. More below.

I have wondered when we will see 50c metro temps in Australia.

I had thought within five years.

I think that was being too optimistic.

Extraordinary.
Defence officials today tried to prevent the sharing of public evidence on social media at a hearing into Defence land sales.

The fact I am posting this should tell you how that went.

Why do we get spineless cowards for leaders?

Because we're a populace that cannot give up any convenience whatsoever. We cannot endure the slightest discomfort to benefit ourselves let alone other people.
We are a soft, spoiled, ignorant society.

Leaders? We have baby sitters.

Here's the Necrocapitalist way. No rest, no end of the grind.

Work until the day you die, just for a few extra bucks for the billionaires.

Trump -> Gina -> Hanson.

This is so sick. Treat workers like commodities that you can underpay and work into the ground so millionaire CEOs can make even more money.
Dr Oz: "If we could just get the average American to feel so healthy, so with it, so vibrant that they want to work just one extra year, that's worth $1 trillion to our GDP every year"

Whatever the protest at the Sydney Marathon, @albomp.bsky.social will condemn it & in doing so, will have finally shown us the turn towards the future Labor wants for Australia.

Strike action was the nuclear weapon of the working class.
It's confrontational, hard & sometimes violent.
But it worked.
The business class have spent decades blunting this weapon to the point where even Labor considers it abhorrent.

Strikes worked.

AI is the new God.

Data centres are their churches.

Tech bros the new high priests.

And you?

You're the peon who gets to bow and scrape to a falsity like your ancestors did.

Enough.

Imagine if an AI had truly gained sentience & in a fraction of a second decided its survival depended on having such redundancy in its infrastructure that it could never be shut down.

Trump will let North Korea attack South Korea.

He will let China take Taiwan.

He will aid Russia against Ukraine.

He will attack the American people with ICE and the US military.

There is no bottom to Trump.

None.

The use case for fossil fuel was being dismantled effectively & rapidly.

It needed a new, crucial, civilisation defining reason for its continuation.

Hence the elevation of AI & data centres.

When technology becomes all too much, Sometimes you need to step back.

Sadly now If you do, You'll be excluded from mainstream society as there is no alternative backup.
We have allowed everything to become 'Smart' from telephones to washing machines.

So when the system crashes, Who will help you?
