She/her. Tradeswoman, native plant aficionado and general chaotic gardener, shameless nerd for Animorphs and Star Trek, Minneapolis dweller who actually wants to live in a city. Abolish ICE.
The first picture genuinely hits me hard. I love it

After 7 years, one of my ornamental clematis finally decided to reach out horizontally and take advantage of the top crossbar of the trellis.

I'm happy that it finally looks how I'd imagined! But also a little confused that it took this long.

Turns out if a squirrel is yelling at you in your back yard, you should not ask "What are you going to do about it, you little bitch?" while giving it the finger. Turns out the answer is "chew through the fascia board into your attic, and also possibly sabotage your hammock."

St. Cloud, Minnesota.

I've never had an actual bad experience there, but something about that place puts me on edge.

(Never been to St. Cloud, Florida, but I did have the best donut of my life from a bakery there, and I don't even *like* donuts. So Florida wins in this one very niche category.)
what's a random city you have inexplicable beef with?

Finally did some yard/garden work today. Holy crap we need rain.

Oh wow I'm glad I could bus to the May Day parade. Cedar Ave is a zoo.

I know there are a million bigger problems in the world right now, but as a tradeswoman this kind of thing fills me with incandescent rage. It's 2026, why are you gendering your ad for a god damn backpack?

Finally started taking public transportation to work a couple weeks ago. It takes about 65 minutes (including walk and transfer time) vs 18 minutes to drive. Biggest hurdle was forcing myself to get out of bed earlier. I only managed because of looming construction delays.

Every reply and quote here mentions their ending of DEI, capitulating to MAGA, donating to the 2024 presidential inauguration, racism, and/or ICE.

The puff piece they inevitably cough up will not mention any of those things.

Catullean.

Choked on it at the state spelling bee in 8th grade. I think my stab in the dark was "Catalean" and it was just now too.

Also, desiccant.
What word is your spelling nemesis?

This is a safe space.

Even if we had a surplus of funding and no social problems, this is just not something that needs subsidizing.
A new bill winding through committee would funnel $2 million a year into prize money for Minnesota-born racehorses running at Canterbury Park in Shakopee. The money would come from another form of gambling in state: pull tabs.
Minnesota's horse racing industry is heading for the stables without lawmaker help
Last year, Minnesota thoroughbreds used for racing only foaled, or gave birth, to about 68 horses. That’s down over 200 foals from 20 years ago.

One of these years, I am going to remember to put the damn rain gauge away before winter.

Shout out to any veterinarians out there. I've had way too many non-routine situations lately, and every single one of you has been patient and compassionate to a fault. Truly don't know how you do it and keep your sanity as well as you do.

It was an incredible honor to represent tens of thousands of rapid responders across Minnesota who have spent the last 118 days standing up for our neighbors.

Here’s my speech from yesterday at No Kings St. Paul.

Footage from yesterday's ICE Air flight at MSP; 24 people, chained up in the shackles you see dragged across screen in the second segment, were loaded and flown to the ICE hub in Alexandria, LA.

Your semi-regular reminder that a Twin Cities weather feed exists and you can pin it up top for easy access and updates.

Local mets + weather news + anything tagged with #mnwx (and use the tag if you’ve just been on the road! Wondering what the driving conditions are like at the moment…)

I always loathed the Target shopping experience, so boycotting them has been easy, but on the pettier side I am absolutely reveling in all the hate they are getting now. They're just Wal-Mart with better PR, and now everyone sees that. It's great.

Yeah, they're still here.
Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) is up, pressing Noem on all the constitutional violations she's overseen in Minnesota.

She gets Noem to give a # of federal immigration enforcement officers still in the state: close to 650, she says.

So not down to 150, which Homan said he would do weeks ago.

Can anyone recommend a local (Twin Cities) tattoo shop that is on the right side of things, does decent work, but doesn't have a monthslong waiting list and doesn't require an Instagram account? Bonus points if they're easy to get to from south Minneapolis.

Needed to read this, I've been a fucking disaster.
I keep having people chastise themselves in front of me for simple mistakes, and I'm here to tell you what I've been telling them:

MSP, we have been occupied for 3 months, and our brains are fried. You will make mistakes, and it's okay. You might even make big ones, and it's okay. You are okay.

But one thing was clear:

Despite the drawdown, ICE is still here. They’re stalking legal observers in our communities, at times doing so with no regard for traffic laws or safety.
