I am so fucking over this "well we had it coming because of weakness or whatever" navel-gazing pity party bullshit. Not even the people that voted for the fucker deserve what's happening because we all - ALL OF US - deserve better than what the fuck is going on. I'm here to work to save ALL of us.
Fucking spare me. None of us, even the people that fucking voted for the creep, deserved this. This shit fucking blows and we should be pissed off about it, none of this "well America had it coming you know" nonsense. Fuck that noise.

Every single "military boot camp workout" ever does shit we would have instantly been written up for, yelled at for, and possibly brought up for disciplinary review for doing in actual Army BCT, water denial and heat index monitoring in particular
We have allegations that:

1) athletes were denied water

2) heat exposure polices were not followed

3) training staff didn’t follow emergency heat procedures when Mayich collapsed

4) guest “trainer” wasn’t vetted or under contract

Powers and ASU failed Mayich.

Big Walk's magic is delivering on the quiet comfort of being around your friends. Being able to distill the kind of friendship intimacy that normally requires close physical proximity so perfectly into an engaging virtual space (and capped off by the *perfect* ending) is pure magic.

This is the best video I've found so far on the unique and ingenious way Big Walk delivers on "game about talking to your friends" - that silence and isolation are key to intimacy, that that's the difference between "game you play with your friends" and "game about being with your friends".
The secret to Big Walk is the thing it takes away

For pity's sake the plans have been on display in Alpha Centauri for the last 50 of your Earth years, you've had plenty of time to lodge a formal complaint and it's far too late to start making a fuss about it now. Apathetic bloody planet, I've no sympathy at all.
look man i'm sorry about depriving your world of all light and warmth but surrounding your sun with a dyson sphere was the only way to get more power so that we could continue to surround suns with dyson spheres. also fr dude, how are you *still* not able to leave your solar system? like c'mon

As someone in absolute favor of "take the time to do it right" for game dev, I am absolutely in favor of this change. The new additions sound great, and better to launch a banger than have to fix it in real time.

(also this lets me play Control Resonant in peace)
We’re making changes to Marathon’s update plans and how we deliver new content.

We’re moving away from a strict seasonal schedule to give the team more flexibility to build, test, and improve features before release.

I did a somewhat deep dive into the recent OpenAI and Anthropic "hacks" for an upcoming interview.

IMO, the AI companies are better off running with the "rogue AI" story because the real story is actually pretty embarrassing.

Like making your Wi-Fi password "wifi" embarrassing. 🧵

Okay, I've held my tongue because he's clearly just trying to shill for himself but this is the smoking gun that he's either a blithering idiot (unlikely) or is just making shit up for headlines. Anyone with even a passing familiarity of LLMs knows it can't just "copy itself over to other computers"
Anthropic's models run on terabytes of VRAM. It's not going to "just copy itself to other computers."

100% yes. Kershaw threw 51 breaking balls in game 5 and didn’t generate a single swing and miss because they had the signs. Only time that happened in his career

I was sitting 8 rows behind home plate & tweeted “I don’t know what I’m watching but it’s not baseball”

Engineer's Disease is almost always the answer when someone technical claims they have figured something out the actual experts in the field haven't.
In general a lot of the predictions around AI are based on tech and coding people extrapolating to areas outside their expertise.
For every AI doomsday scenario guy I just want to ask: How? Like what is the mechanism here? Because it is all very unspecific (and in the end it is probably some scifi grey goo bs they thought up)

It's important to design your experiments to take into account if the target is a pull hitter or sprays the ball all over the field. Pull targets would be better for high energy work, but if volume of interactions is what you need, get someone that doesn't hit the bosons hard but makes good contact.

not too shabby at all

I think I got Flush Five up to level 18 or so from blue seals, and had my deck trimmed well enough I was guaranteed 5 Lucky Card King of Hearts. Lucky Cat must have been 10-12x by the end, and I did wonder if putting Blueprint on that would have been better by the end.

"Donald Trump believes he is god-king and the American people are his servants so he will attempt to take us to the afterlife with him" is something more important people probably need to grapple with when it comes to what powers his office has and indulging his requests
i think right now he is genuinely fixated on adding new american territory as the brass ring, the thing they'll never be able to take away from his memory

i also think he can't make it happen

so as 2029 approaches we are going to more and more see a family annihilator presidency

Anyway I've now seen it on a huge IMAX screen and projected on a bedsheet in a tiny Tokyo dive bar, which are really the two best ways to see Akira, highly recommend doing both

The thing that I think makes Akira a true cyberpunk classic isn't just the world, the design and visuals, or the animation, it's that there is no protagonist or antagonist, it's all people doing what people do. The events of the movie are as dictated by the characters as a tidal wave or hurricane.

*Finally* got my 100m Balatro hand score on the desktop. The Idol, Cavendish, The Duo, The Trio, and Brainstorm, with the Idol triggering on all 5 cards of a Lvl.3 Flush Five hand and three Steel cards (one with a Red Seal). 830 million points in one shot (I immediately lost because Idol cycled)
