My reading for the week of Deck of TBRathon. The Story of a Heart by Rachel Clarke was a big standout.

I couldn't choose between these two. Both for similar reasons.

The Woman They Could Not Silence by Kate Moore and Isola by Allegra Goodman are two books that I would not survive if I were dropped into that time and circumstance.

It's publication day, so I can finally shout about how much I loved both of these ARCs that I had the privilege of reading early. Please see the Alt text or my Goodreads for reviews of both My Friends by Fredrik Backman and Poetry is Not a Luxury by Anonymous.

Thank you to NetGalley and to Atria Books for allowing me to read an early copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I was very excited to find out that Fredrik Backman was publishing a new book this year and even more excited when I was approved for the ARC. I have come to expect a lot from Fredrik Backman because his previous books have been some of my absolute favourites in the years that I've read them. My Friends definitely lived up to the very high standard and even surpassed my expectations. As usual the book is very quotable and I can't wait to buy the final version in order to write down the wonderful musings on the power of art, the resonance of small moments and the importance of friendship. I have a feeling that these characters will stay with me for a long time to come. Ted and Louisa's journey is both far-fetched and extremely relatable. This book deserves the great success I'm sure it will have because it evokes a nostalgia that is universal. Strong friendships make all the trials of life bearable and you never know when a person like you will come along. For anyone who is a fan of poetry and anyone who follows the Instagram account of the same name name, not only is Poetry Is Not a Luxury: Poems for All Seasons not a luxury, it is a necessity. Starting with the striking, colourful cover, this collection stands out in several ways. It is a curated collection that divides the poetry into seasons that evoke different moods often using nature or other vivid imagery. I loved this collection because it is diverse and wide-ranging. It includes popular and well-loved poets but often not their most popular works. It allows readers to be introduced to new voices and the common thread seems to be some very evocative imagery. It was so nice to see poems from some of my favourite poets that I was unfamiliar with and it just goes to show that this will make a wonderful reference in the future. I was sold when I saw poems by Li-Young Lee and Kate Baer. There were also several other poets that I can't wait to read full collections from. This is a book that every poetry lover should display proudly on their shelves. Thank you very much to Atria Books and Washington Square Press for an early digiral copy of this book via NetGalley for review consideration. All opinions are my own.

Two 5 🌟 books in less than a week is very unusual for me, so I had to share. Isola by Allegra Goodman and Say You'll Remember Me by Abby Jimenez were both wonderful and I highly recommend both.

I'm excited to be a judge again this year for the Booktube Prize. Many of my favourite books last year in both fiction and nonfiction were read because of my participation in this. I'm sure it's going to be just as great this year too. I'm assigned to Group A for Round 1.
