The newest PSF Board has decided to continue investing in connecting with the global Python community by running the PSF Board Office Hour sessions on the PSF Discord into 2027. We began running these sessions in September 2024, and they have proven to be a great method for the community to connect with the board and vice versa. This venue has been invaluable to the PSF as we work on critical areas over the last year such as the PSF Strategic Plan, elections, and the recent PSF Grants Program Funding Round. The sessions have also provided the PSF Board and Staff the opportunity to hear what our community is up to and what challenges they are facing.

A security incident affecting eMudhra intermediate certificates has required removing the emSign root CA certificate from CA bundles such as “certifi”. It’s important to immediately upgrade the software packages below to at least the versions specified and rebuild container images to fetch the latest system certificates. Wikis: Relaunched!
In February 2026, the Python Software Foundation (PSF) made the PSF, Python, and Jython wikis read-only due to excessive automated traffic and security concerns on outdated infrastructure. This sudden change was disruptive to the many community members who rely on and contribute to these wikis. We are pleased to share that we have stood up new wikis through GitHub Pages that address the automated traffic and security concerns. The new wikis will have a more modern front-end, as well as a permissions-based content management system (CMS) for community members to make updates.

Introducing PSF Grants Program Office Hours
In October 2023, we acknowledged the situation surrounding DjangoCon Africa and noted our intent to make ongoing improvements to the Grants Program. We also recognize that we are in a new world of hybrid programming since the onset of the pandemic which comes with different funding and cost challenges. One step we are taking to refresh the Grants Program (we’ll be reporting on other steps soon) is to establish PSF Grants Program Office Hours. The office hours will be hosted on the Python Software Foundation Discord once a month at 1-2PM UTC (9AM Eastern) on the third Tuesday of the month. (Check what time that is for you.) We invite the Python community to join in to receive support for Grant-related questions and inquiries! If you have urgent or immediate questions related to the Grants Program, please email [email protected].
