Announcing the PSF Strategic Plan 2026
In May, the Python Software Foundation (PSF) shared the high-level goals of our Strategic Plan. In June, we published the full draft and opened it for community feedback. Today we are sharing the outcome: at its July 8 meeting, the PSF Board adopted the PSF Strategic Plan 2026, covering 2026 to 2031.

The September edition of the PSF Grants Program Office Hour is kicking off shortly 🐍📋️️ 9 AM EDT, 1 PM UTC. We welcome you to join us if you have any PSF Grant related questions, including questions or feedback about the PSF Community Partner Program or the PSF's Meetup Pro Network!
Introducing PSF Grants Program Office Hours
In October 2023, we acknowledged the situation surrounding DjangoCon Africa and noted our intent to make ongoing improvements to the Grants Program. We also recognize that we are in a new world of hybrid programming since the onset of the pandemic which comes with different funding and cost challenges. One step we are taking to refresh the Grants Program (we’ll be reporting on other steps soon) is to establish PSF Grants Program Office Hours. The office hours will be hosted on the Python Software Foundation Discord once a month at 1-2PM UTC (9AM Eastern) on the third Tuesday of the month. (Check what time that is for you.) We invite the Python community to join in to receive support for Grant-related questions and inquiries! If you have urgent or immediate questions related to the Grants Program, please email [email protected].

I'm Ramya Ravi, a Developer Advocate for AI and Open Source at NetApp Instaclustr, based in Connecticut. My day to day is teaching developers how to actually build with open source technology, not just read about it. I write technical tutorials, record videos, and speak at conferences, about things like vector search, retrieval augmented generation, and open source AI infrastructure. Python sits underneath almost everything I work on. The PyTorch and OpenSearch tooling I write about every week both run on it, so in a very real sense I've been a daily Python user for my entire career, even before I thought of myself as part of the Python community in the traditional sense.Outside of work, I care a lot about lowering the barrier to entry for newer developers. Earlier in my career I built a developer community from zero to over 6,000 members, and watching someone go from lurker to confident contributor is honestly what keeps me doing this kind of work.

Announcing a 2026 PSF Grants Program Funding Round
The Python Software Foundation (PSF) is excited to announce a 2026 PSF Grants Program funding round. This is not a full reopening of the Grants Program as it existed before. Rather, it's what the PSF is able to sustainably offer right now, given where we stand financially and operationally. The PSF Board, PSF Staff, and PSF Grants Work Group (GWG) are deeply passionate about the program and understand how important it is to the Python community. It’s our honor to have the opportunity to disburse grant funding in 2026. In keeping with our focus on sustainability, this round of grant funding has a set budget capped at $90,000 USD, a limited scope, and a different structure and timeline for applying and reviewing. We will be accepting applications from August 4 - 25 AoE, for Conferences and Workshops that are scheduled between December 1, 2026, and April 30, 2027. Our top priority is getting available funds to the regional communities who need it most: those who have had to pause their events and initiatives because of lack of funding from PSF Grants or loss of sponsors.
