So true. People who believe this are used to white privilege allowing them to "convince" the cops of their innocence. They can't even imagine having to use civil liberties to defend themselves. "It'd never happen" they think, which makes them unlikely to defend the constitution for self or other.

Unless you think this kind of thing would be "ok" in the U.S. please get up off the couch, join a local resistance organization that's networked with others, donate to legal orgs defending immigrants, the Constitution, and democracy. Do it now.
For those curious about how this works: a captured executive branch, a Congress filled with loyalists, a rewritten Constitution, an illegitimate election after putting all viable opponents in jail. Designs for one-party rule long into the future.

Who knows, but I suspect that the problem may not be individual SW incompetence but it may be due to policy that emphasized family reunification too strongly and didn't institutionalize due diligence for critiquing the qualifications of family members.
The death of the child, who family member say had been involved with the child welfare agency since he was born nearly two months prematurely with signs of fetal alcohol syndrome, has caused an outcry among child advocates and civil rights…
