There's something extra exhausting about the expectation from cis people that trans people should be nice and acquiesce quietly, when a lot of us have lost friends in recent years, have been fleeing homes or are helping out friends fleeing or trying to keep them afloat after being ousted from work..
This thread (and the one quoted in the last post of it) sums up very well why I’m leaving the country. I haven’t talked super publicly about it because it’s been hard enough figuring out what to do, but it’s the reality of the situation.

my lesson for everyone from this, cis or trans, is that you have to take the leap and make the choice to do the thing that makes you happy. you have to live for yourself and as yourself because nobody will make you do it.

seven years ago today i started transitioning. it's not a great time to be trans but i wouldn't have the life i do or the career i have if i hadn't taken the leap and done the hard thing. you only get one chance at living. if you're not doing it authentically, what's the point?
