Still not feeling well enough to stream 🤕 Working offline as much as I can though, and doing bits of polish here and there. Eyeroboros is my favorite of the games (so far), so I'm cleaning it up a little extra. UI for your score and your health meter, plus a little extra juice on the eyedrops. 👁️

Okay, still a successful-enough day! Cleaning up some code issues that I 100% have to do before making more games, and had some fun with the game selection screen. I'll sneak in a little more work before bed, but it feels like a game now!

Not feeling great physically, so no stream today for the game jam project. I'm still spending the day on it so I should have a few things to show later on, at least. For now I'm continuing some of the structural work from yesterday, and now getting palette swaps and the cart selection grid going.

Long stream today, but we've got two more prototypes knocked out and ready to get properly gamified later. Most notably, @seckswrecks.bsky.social provided the cursed idea yesterday that I combine two of the planned prototypes into one. I present to you, for better or worse: Flappy Bird Breakout.

"OH SHIT"

Mostly worked on boring but important stuff for the #GBJAM14 game today so I thought I'd end Day 3 with something fun. The function is literally called rainCoinsLikeSonic()

Now we got the hands to pick up and put down stuff! Ready for sorting and the design headache on how to show different properties of items.

Holy crap, today's minigame for the jam is coming along super quick! Going to do a night stream (4ish hours from now) and I'll go over this one and probably start the next. Neither game is "done" yet, but I'm gonna keep getting them all up and running before polishing.

I did some more work after the stream yesterday and a bit this morning to make progress on the Frogger clone. Made the vehicles bigger, added a second type, and got the logs working. It's borderline a game now, which means I can move on to prototyping the next minigame!

No (visual) GB Jam progress today, but that's okay. It was a good day behind the scenes:

• Set up my library of go-to Pico-8 functions and have ready to go.
• Core concept is pretty solidly locked in,
• Lots of concept/vibes art doodles got made.

Maybe a development stream tomorrow? 👀

Oh frick, I think the GB Jam theme is perfect for me 👀

GB Jam starts tomorrow... do I set aside all my current small projects to work on a new one for a week?

(Probably.)

One of the cool things about working on little demakes/fan games like with the VVVVVV project is how much it helps me appreciate not just the mechanical design decisions that the developers made, but also the level design editorializing which is often more invisible.

Now with the actual V6-esque art vibes! I'm thinking this will be a single level, set up as an obstacle course for those wanting to join the crew of the DSS Souleye. It'll still need a couple of mechanics implemented to finish level design; then with some sfx it'll be "done enough".

While I shake off the creative cobwebs, one of the first projects I want to release is a bundle of some prototypes that I don't plan on developing further. This is a good opportunity to go back and see what they actually were, and prune down to some of the funner ideas - like this VVVVVV fangame 👀

Oh right, now the fun part of trying to refind as many of the folks from way back when on here as I can... 🫠
September 5, 2026 at 9:05 PM
Well hello there folks! I'm back from a very long hiatus and looking forward to playing with some pixels again.

I can't wait to see what everyone's been working on, and to get back into the groove with my own projects!
