I feel lucky to have worked with this brilliant woman on R4 'Cabin Pressure' some years back. She was a right laugh, and told me all the goss on how she got shafted on a certain show where she was unceremoniously booted off by some precious producers.

Oh no, a new secondhand record shop is opening a two minute walk from my flat. It will be the much lamented Pure Groove records on my doorstep in the '00s all over again. Pop out quickly to get a pint a milk, come back an hour later with three new albums and've forgotten the milk.

I just heard that whoever stole those Renoir paintings will have great difficulty trying to sell on the famous works of art. Maybe, they've no intention of parting with them and just want something a bit classy to hang in the downstairs loo? Prints can be quite costly, you know?

Watching an old Doctor Who the other night, I cheered when I heard my favourite ubiquitous 1970s BBC sound effect. It was almost the Beeb's equivalent of 'The Wilhelm Scream', as it would turn up regularly in stuff from kid's shows to sitcoms to serious TV dramas.
