As of today, October 1, I am closed to queries! I'll aim to open again in the spring. 💕

My favorite was when an author flippantly wrote that if the interest was real, he’d have to loop in his agent at “Writers House LLC.”

The scammer replied, “Of course! I’d be happy to speak to your agent at Writers House LLC.”
Love when I get a spam email purportedly from an editor who knows me and has spoken with me repeatedly at conferences and sent me email that addresses me as "Dear Ms. Milan."

QUERY UPDATE: I will close to queries on October 1!

If your query is ready to send before then, I'd love to see it! But please don't rush, as I'll aim to open again in the new year. 🫶

Query update: I'm still considering a handful from May, but otherwise I've responded to all queries received before June 1.

I'm seeing a lot of queries with word counts that don't make sense for the genre/age category. For instance, several "literary fiction" queries in the 20-25k range, or MG that's only 10k words. Be sure to keep word count in mind, especially for your debut!

*SCAMMER ALERT*

I’ve been informed by writers that they’ve been contacted by someone claiming to be me. I will never contact you from a gmail account, plus there’s a lot of inaccurate info here.

Please be on alert, and if you think you’re talking to me, reach out to confirm.

The amount of romance novels I've started based on them being described as romcoms only to find out a few chapters in there is no comedy, it's just a lighthearted romance. The "com" is not optional in a romcom!
Based on two conversations I’ve had in the last 24 hours, we gotta make more actual romcoms before the vernacular becomes that a romcom is just a lighthearted movie with women in it.

Just a reminder to everyone that I do not represent picture books or graphic novels! I have many wonderful colleagues who do, so please query them with your PB and GN projects instead.

Without a doubt. He will make a good faith effort to enact all his policy ideas. He will succeed on some and fail on others. And that’s fine. That is how change works. Also his promises are all feasible.
Do you think he can actually achieve his promises?

Sounds like the squishes in the senate caucus are ready to pull the plug with no ACA changes. This is real. If you want to register your opinion you shld call yr senator in the next hour. They not only want to reopen w/nothing. They want cover from their colleagues who still want to hold out.

The Walton family (who own Walmart) are worth over $400 billion, yet many of their employees are on SNAP.

Bezos is worth over $400 billion, many Amazon employees require SNAP.

The people who need help are not the problem.

It’s corporate greed. It’s an unwillingness to pay a living wage.

Writers! I will be closing to queries on October 1.

I've fallen too far behind and need time to focus on client reading and getting through the material I've requested already.

Thanks for your patience! Please remember that I respond to everyone, even if it might take me longer right now. 💚
