What Makes Men in Groups Behave So Badly?

"Why do men in groups behave this way? What makes a man in front of an audience of other men offer up a woman like a piece of meat for consumption? "

170 rape kits, 1 rape prosecution: New SFPD data shows sexual assault cases stalling.

It's not just colleges & frats. It is systemic policing practices that leave rape victims alone without justice.

Victims are getting exams within days. It can take police investigators months to even open a case.

"The Silver Rail Elementary School shooting seemed poised to set off conversations about gun control."

Again. And nothing will be done.

Thoughts & prayers y'all.

I grieve yet again for the children AND the teacher who died caring for them.

Teacher victims are rarely talked about.

You can’t make this up:

Up until a few months ago, the new White House Press Secretary Katie Zacharia was on the advisory board of an organization that calls for women who have abortions to be executed “in the public square,” and for pro-choice Americans to lose their right to hold public office.

"Today, a vast array of online platforms—misogynistic porn, crypto, sports-betting and prediction markets, masculinity influencers, and right-wing and racist propaganda—gnaws through minds, hearts, and souls on its way to wallets."

Hey @nytimes.com

Glaringly missing from this piece: female lawmakers and public officials in the United States face threats and harassment at 3-4 times more frequently and with more gender-specific hostility than their male counterparts.

Being read to and encouraged to read was one of the greatest gifts my parents ever gave me.

My parents never put any barriers on their own library, bought us book lights so we could read in the car, and pretended they didn’t notice when I’d be up past bedtime reading under the sheets.
Do we really need to explain to people that it is really, REALLY important to read to young children? Like, you, personally, need to read to your child - your voice, your face, your hand gestures, your lap, your arms, your closeness. What kind of parent doesn't know this in their bones?
