True students of war history will (RIGHTFULLY) consider the salt episode one of the greatest pieces of television ever produced because having adequate nutrition, even something as benign as table salt, is a Major Issue even for the best-equipped militaries! Wars are literally won and lost over it!
See, when I say "Mobile Suit Gundam is good because it understands how wars work" it's not just in the nitty gritty of battles (though it is that) it's shit like this: The way logistics get fucked up, how training matters, the way the technology and changing strategies impact the on the ground shit
this pretty much describes the archetypal german WW1 flying ace that he's modeled on
meanwhile, the late-war situation is zeon is much more clearly based on the situation with japanese aviation in late ww2, when all the veterans were dead and there was nobody to train recruits
