I am so darn proud of New Mexico! We were the 1st and only state to do everything possible to keep health insurance affordable for New Mexicans. And we did it with bipartisan support!

NM, we can do hard things, and we did!!!

When federal premium subsidies expired, New Mexico stepped up. We became the only state in the country to fully replace that assistance with state dollars. But now, the federal administration is proposing a rule that could put New Mexico’s Health Care Affordability Fund at risk.

Thanks to the almost two dozen states who have stepped up to make health care more affordable, even after Congress refused to extend federal subsidies. It’s helping more people get the care they need, and more states should follow their lead.

But the ACA was always meant to be a first step. We still have to do more to expand access and make health care more affordable for everyone.

The day the Affordable Care Act passed was one of my proudest moments as president, because it meant that millions of Americans would have access to health care, some for the first time.

We will keep fighting to
make healthcare more affordable because keeping your family healthy should not break the bank. Thank you @barackobama.bsky.social for your leadership. So many of us will carry the baton forward.

🖊️SIGNED: Four critical health care bills signed into law today by @GovMLG. I was proud to sponsor HB 4, HB 306, and SB 101. In NM, you should be able to see the doctors you need and find insurance you can afford. Even as Washington abandons that vision, we’re not backing down.

The progress we made in this 30-day session came from a simple approach: stay focused on the priorities we hear and see in our communities every day. That means access to health care, the cost of living, and the safety and dignity of our neighborhoods. We keep going from here. tinyurl.com/2vx4fye6

sourcenm.com/2026/02/16/w... PASSED IN BOTH CHAMBERS - HB 128. When a firefighter develops cancer in the line of duty, we must be there to support them. Proud to stand with IAFF and @cindynava4nm.bsky.social on this critical change to state law.
Workers' comp didn't cover a New Mexico firefighter's cancer — a new bill would change that • Source New Mexico
A bill in the New Mexico state Legislature would greatly expand the list of cancers that workers' compensation covers for firefighters.

When a firefighter develops occupational cancer, it’s a terrifying moment. They face routine toxic exposure to keep us safe, and our laws should reflect that reality. HB 128 passed the House 61–1 to ensure firefighters who get sick on the job have access to the support they deserve.

HB127 passed the House unanimously! This bill expands access to care by improving expedited licensure, strengthening telehealth, and allowing highly trained international doctors to practice here. The new telehealth registry will be a lifeline for patients who can’t safely travel for specialty care.

Proud to co-sponsor Senate Bill 55 with Sen.Mimi Stewart, because it would increase New Mexico’s solar tax credit from 10% to 30%, raise the cap from $6,000 to $15,000, and help homeowners and small businesses afford clean energy while supporting local solar jobs across our state.

I’m proud the House once again passed The Immigrant Safety Act today. We chose compassion, care, and dignity, and refuse to be complicit in harm. We also pledge to work with the communities impacted to ensure economic opportunity outside of private detention.

WE are the authors of our American dream, where immigrants like my family have safety, respect, and a place in our shared home. This is a frightening time in our country as ICE tries to push people into silence, fear and hiding.
