October 10 spooky/supernatural podfic is “Provenence” (T, 2 hrs) by @reluctantrose.bsky.social Magical realism. Haunting? Reincarnation? This one made me cry but has a happy ending. And I got to sing a bit. on.soundcloud.com/fJoe82zhkcrA...

Summer 2022 I joined this marvelous fandom. It isn’t dead. A series might end, but fandom lives on. It’s in the art, fics and friendship that is made through it. Some might steer away, but there is a bit of it still there. Me? I’m a lifer. Thank you to all the talented folks who keep creating.

“Devoted and underserved audience” is putting it mildly

From this Reddit post: www.reddit.com/r/OurFlagMea...
From OurFlagMeansDeath community on Reddit = Newsweek Subscribe Sign In "People will fight for things and say, 'Hey, this is a really important community piece for the show,' he said, while other advocates may point to a publisher announcing a new book or a creator "that's really burst onto the scene." The rejected slate remains formidable: "The version of New York Comic Con that's all the stuff that is on the cutting-room floor would be the second-best comic convention in the country." Those arguments can identify a community before its size becomes obvious. A staff member once championed HBO's Our Flag Means Death, sensing its importance to a devoted and underserved audience; after ReedPop brought guests from the series, fans traveled from across the United States and abroad. "We were all just bowled over with the response," D'Lando said. "I need to be at this event. I need to be with my community and with my tribe," he recall attendees saying.

Whelp. First school visit with the pirate book (one I was really looking forward to since it was MY elementary school) canceled due to “concerns about content that might upset conservative parents.” I’m absolutely gutted.

Okay if you saw my post earlier re the inn, we were just out of position, but we cross-checked the details and found our way to the right location. More pics tomorrow in daylight, but for now, @asyouwish311.bsky.social's lantern boys sitting on the actual site of the inn 😍

Behold the testprint!
I need to work on some tiny details and get the printing cleaner but overall this is it!
#myart #linocut #ofmdfanart #ofmd #ourflagmeansdeath #linoprint #linolschnitt #wip
Testprint of my latest linocut. Stede's slutty hand stroking the hull of a miniature Revenge. The unicorn figurehead is intact. The flags are Blackbeard's and the cat flag of Stede's crew and my signature in a third one.
