More Than 500 U.S. Citizens Have Been Detained, Including Handcuffed or Held at Gunpoint, in Trump’s Immigration Crackdown — ProPublica
The government doesn’t track how often immigration officers detain U.S. citizens. So ProPublica did. We’ve found more than 500 Americans who were held against their will during this Trump administrati...

Initial thought is that it's a brilliant idea for Cloudflare to use ATproto for the plugin registry for emdash CMS. This looks like it solves a lot of problems for ownership & distribution that these sorts of registries usually have. (Also emdash is looking solid) blog.cloudflare.com/emdash-cms-p...

Sure, the company has a long and storied history of behaving unethically. Also, yes, part of that history involves misusing and abusing people's personal data. But, if I'm understanding correctly, what I think you're saying is that I should *not* hand over my bank accounts to their cool new AI?

the hard parts of building a business are

- solving a real problem for real people
- ignoring shiny ideas that are fun but distracting
- prioritizing boring stuff that moves the needle
- connecting with customers

if anything, AI makes it *harder* to build a successful business

There's plenty of corruption, crimes against humanity, and downright evil shit to focus on, but every so often it strikes me how thoroughly we USians have been exposed and disgraced on the world stage. A country who can elect such a man—twice!—is not a worthy country. We need radical reformation.

One of my favorite cartoons of all time, so it's great to read details on how it got made.
Engaging read on how the Bugs Bunny cartoon What’s Opera, Doc? was made. “To get the extra work done, Jones and his crew secretly shaved a couple weeks off other, easier films and faked their time cards. It was something they did on occasion.” [animationobsessive.substack.com]
Why ‘What’s Opera, Doc?’ Looks Like That
It’s one of the really famous cartoons. If you’re reading this newsletter, you’ve probably watched it yourself. After almost 70 years, What’s Opera, Doc? endures.

The FBI sought to launch a probe and was eyeing Collins and other lawmakers.

If the post-Trump era isn't defined by putting all these mfers on trial, even based on only the things we currently know, we will have failed as a society.
“The worst place ever I’ve been in my life," Sakariye Abdi Mohamed, a Somali asylum seeker, told me over the phone from Guantanamo Bay last week.

Sakariye is one of 7 or 8 Somalis who are being held at Gitmo. They say guards tell them the order to keep Somalis at the facility comes from DC.

I've literally never heard anyone ask Trump (or his sham board) how putting his name on the building would have magically solved their supposedly serious financial crisis.
Trump: "The Kennedy Center is in a virtual state of collapse, and has been for many years ... unfortunately, the Building is destined to doom. Isn’t that too bad?"
