Our first target is the inverter! The connection to HVJB is the 3-step plug. The cables to the motor require removing the cover, interior bolts, and bolts securing the plug. A few wire and hose hangers are attached. Double-check everything is detach, remove 4 mounting bolts, and lift!

Don't forget safety when dealing with HV components. In addition to pulling the service plug and disconnecting the 12v, use electrical safety gloves and and ensure technicians are aware of the HV status of the vehicle. We place the plug on the dash (not the rear seat!) to have a quick visual check

Did we share our most recent questionable decision? We recently bought a 2012 Nissan Leaf solely for the EM61. The battery is toast and the previous owner says this was the warranty replacement. 😳 Look for updates as we take it apart! 🔧

Our owner recently traveled to California and had the opportunity to take a test drive in the Rivian R2S. Very nice car and probably a more convenient size than the R1S. Rivian is launching the performance version first, and it is fast!

For years, Tesla Powerwall has been the go-to recommendation for “normals” looking for a painless, low-effort experience from their first home solar and battery backup solutions. But with a recent recall on more than 10,000 home batteries over fire safety concerns following a year (or more) of CEO Elon Musk’s political antics, more and more people are beginning to look for alternatives to the trailblazing Tesla tech. The good news: there are plenty of other great home solar battery solutions are there!

An older article, but much remains true. Generally, EVs produce less carbon but highly dependent on electric grid's level of coal generation. Recycling lithium batteries is a growing option, but we prefer to reuse them in our RV conversions!
