I think I was "tapped on the shoulder" at university by a professor who worked for the security services. My wife says, "In that you could hardly even keep the kids' Christmas presents secret I doubt you'd have made a good spy." Perhaps a very slow horse?

Every day I meet all sorts of people from all sorts of backgrounds doing all sorts of things and they're almost all friendly, tolerant, and kind. Then I look at X/Twitter or walk past a protest and it all seems so angry, nasty, and bleak. I wonder which experience is reality?

First watched this in 2014 and rewatch it every year. It's superb telly, deeply moving, and wonderfully-acted and also gives me a spiritual reboot. It's now on Amazon Prime and I strongly recommend it. Then read about the inspiring lives of all concerned.

I'm @spursoffical.bsky.social all through but my friends Tom Bell and Craig Forrest are West Ham - Craig was their keeper so has no option! Tom is a church musician and after lunch we went to the cathedral and he played the West Ham song. Well, I suppose Irons fans have to have faith these days.

I just bought new shoes. Rockports. But what I really wanted were the ones from my childhood with a compass or animal tracks underneath. Perfect for when I got lost in the house or wanted to hunt a deer in the kitchen.

There are days when I feel tired, without energy, despondent about the world. Then I remember that I will be celebrating the eucharist, presiding at the Lord's Supper, consecrating at the altar, and everything changes. Overwhelming, holy privilege.
