Apropos of all that's going on:

And scatter our enemies
Frustrate their politics
Confound their knavish tricks
God save the King

This article is accurate about the meaning of the US Security Strategy. Basically, it insists that all of North and South America should be vassals. This cannot be accepted. CDA daily resembles antebellum UKR more and more... markhamhislop.substack.com/p/trump-want...

Finally. We have to start somewhere in order to have credible sovereignty deterrence
Now for cruise and ballistic missiles and ton of GMLRS trucks.....why? No reason. Just because......Low fanfare is fine. The people who need to get the message will be told.
Another very interesting program launched today (with little fanfare): per Noah, more details reportedly coming next week. Worth noting that this is for one-way attack and long-range attritable UAS, not a missile program or (presumably) something like Brakestop. Still very nice to see.

Not something that's a problem in Southern Ontario - yet. But I wouldn't have thought the British Isles were fire territory, and that's where the OP lives. So take good and experienced advice when offered....
i've outrun more than a few wildfires in my time and i thought of typing up some advice on doing that but honestly what can i even say because. this many wildfires in regions that do not normally get wildfires like this is a direct result of bad policies and failure to act on climate change.

Andrew Coyne condenses what most Canadians have felt for a year or more. Trump and his regime cannot be placated or reasoned with. No 'deal' can be made. They are, at bottom, extortioners. Anything they do should be treated as enemy action in a liminal conflict state.

Hate to say it, but that's a straight yellow to Embolo. He embellished with malice aforethought. I agree he had been poorly protected by the ref, but that was not a good idea at all.

This is worth a read. It is a very frank and honest piece of diplomacy. One that shows more charity than I could personally muster in the circumstances. But also fairly remind the dictator that when Russia gets fatigued, change happens. Usually unpleasantly....

I wonder what a similar study might show here in Canada, seeing as how much of the country is hard igneous rock with, in a few areas, some sedimentary overlay....
For a $20M investment, mapping deep geology related to the breakup of Pangea has located:

1. Regions where the risk to power grids from solar storms is 1000x higher!
2. New targets for critical mineral exploration

Seems like a pretty cheap date?

This is an amazing feat of endurance and wisdom earned from living on ancestral land. The Canadian Rangers are simply outstanding, and the rest of the country has much to learn from them.
Photojournalist Gavin John joined a group of Canadian Rangers as they participated in the yearly Operation Nanook-Nunalivut.

The goal: Travel 5,400-kilometres by snowmobile to Churchill, Man., from Inuvik, NWT, without any road infrastructure.

All Canadians should pay attention to this. The Putin playbook that led to the Ukraine War is being run against us, not just by Russia, but by the US regime. I hate to say it, but the BC Premier's use of the word 'treason' was accurate. This is foreign incitement. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

An quote from the Consis Canada: "That is the procurement lesson: every middle power facing a larger autocratic threat needs to build around dispersed, decentralized, multi-domain long-range strike capacity before the crisis arrives. Not after. Not when the border is already burning. Before.

Per my previous post. This is what we are up against. This woman - iirc a US citizen - was dragged from her car by cosplaying blackshirts for the crime of looking brown. Canadians can never give in to this perfidy.

It is good to see that some rational Conservatives still exist in Canada, and Mr. Stratton's article here raises many pertinent concerns. The key issue is time. We just may not have much of it.

This is really an epochal speech. It lays out a path for the 'rest of the world' away from hegemonic schemes. There is a glimmer of hope here. But words are easy. Action, persistence and resilience are hard. But you have to start somewhere, and this is as good a place as any.
Mark Carney's speech really is terrific: full text is here and very much worth your time.

I, too, have learned a new concept today....however reluctantly. The sad truth is that it totally fits current reality.
I had to look up Lizardman's Constant: the 4% of people who will tell a pollster lizard people are taking over the world, ie the minimum answer you will get for even the most absurd question.
"Do you think it would be a good idea or a bad idea for the U.S. to use military force to take possession of Greenland from Denmark?"
Good idea: 4%
Bad idea: 71%
(Ipsos)

4%. He did it. He finally hit Lizardman's Constant.

A tidy summary of the current paroxysm of imperialist lunacy coming out of the US.
The United States needs military access to Greenland, which it already has, to defend the Arctic, which it already does, from Russian and Chinese ships, which aren’t actually there, and this is so important we should destroy the Western alliance to get it, do I have that right?

Watching CDA Juniors. Olympic ice is the way the game should be played. You really see the speed and creativity of the players in a way the congested NHL rinks don't allow. This is what the game should look like!

Stepping outside last night about 7pm when something swooped upward into the maple tree. It was an owl! First time seeing one around the house in 24 years! Likely a Barred Owl. Stood around looking handsome for a minute or so, then flew off as soon as a photo was tried....
