In multicomponent systems, 3DED can rapidly screen the sample for unit cells or structures. This paper from Pharmaron and UK NCS shows resonant acoustic mixing can be paired with ED to provide efficient analysis of the mixture. https://pubs.rsc.org/en/content/articlelanding/2026/ce/d5ce0118

Does your research ever feel a bit one dimensional?
3DED to the rescue! XtaLAB Synergy-ED enabled 1D COFs to be solved with non-hydrogen atoms unambiguously located. Among the most difficult samples, congratulations is due to the authors.

Who doesn't like flowers?
New paper studied phenolic glycosides from the pincushion plant, using minute quantities to outperform other techniques (e.g NMR) and avoids destructive steps like hydrolysis, works even for tricky isomers and tannins.

Crystallographer Lee takes a single grain of sugar, mounts it on an X-ray diffractometer, and in less than a minute reveals its crystal structure.

It’s an everyday ingredient, but the excitement of seeing its molecular structure appearing on the screen never gets old.
