when players complained to Bungie that Marathon didn't have "beers with the boys" options for gameplay i didn't understand that because i frequently am getting non-verbal amounts of weed high while playing Marathon and still winning and jamming. maybe they're too drunk and also not that good yet idk

people say Triage is one of the worst or underpowered shells in Marathon, but i posit this: if you saw a trio, identified each shell, and one is a Triage, would you kill them first if you had an opportunity? you don't know if they have reboot+, and downing the Triage at least takes reboot+ offline.

its interesting that the Thief in Marathon uses a visor to see the highest value of a container or runner and doesn't use it to see through it's drone. like it just turns on a different video feed for its optical implants. such an awesome small detail

while running last night, filled w a solid two on pure accident. we were leveling crews who had gear many tiers higher than us bc, as a crewmate put it, we were communicating what we see, where we see it, and when to fight. won so many fights just by overwhelming a crew w rapid playcalls

it's unfortunate that Marathon's ranked beta is ending right as runners who clear cryo have realised that's where they can get the best gear and the highest level PvP at the same time. wonder how it will look during Symbiosis or if ranked will just be replaced by the PvP experiment

so many runners keep remarking on my season level compared to my weaveworm evolution & cradle level idk what everyone else is doing but this is just regular to me

so funny. yeah when people exhibit horrible behaviour we're planning to make it so that only people who encourage them to stay that way can interact with them. and we're very excited about this
Assuming the worst 1% are suspended. How do we handle the next 5%? Our current plan is visibility restriction to their mutuals only. Does it reduce dogpiles or harassment reports? Does this balance freedom of expression with user safety.

Marathon hasn't reached a point in which builds have names or techniques are named after players, so imo whether there's any real "meta" is basically not a conversation to be had: there is no meta bc guns are very unbalanced and the State of Unbalance is enforced by regular patch changes

theoretically a runner could dodge a standing knife attack in marathon by sliding away from the attacker (like the Wallahslide). and if you have fast enough micro, i think you could actually whip a 180 and knife lunge just as you get out of range of their knife lunge. so basically a wavedash fsmash
