Oh my dear god, let your college kids fail. Let them fail courses. Let them fail paying rent. Let them fail doing their laundry. Let them fail basic hygiene. Let them fail and experience consequences.

I am getting a little tired of seeing so many hipster bingo and bowling events. These were fun but serious activities from my youth that I still try to do as an adult but glow-in-the dark balls and anything less than 20 bingo cards is an affront to my people (working classes).

i'm kind of blown away by how obvious it is if you're, like, literate. at all. i don't even mean for books, i also mean for movies. i mean that if you have understood things at any point in your life, this is obvious. so it's weird to see people act like they don't understand it
this is just straight-up dictatorship and it’s repulsive and pathetic our newspapers and TV stations still won’t say so. there is no emergency. there is no precedent for this in US history. Trump is establishing military and paramilitary control of the capital

was rewatching the Titan doc last night and it's incredible how much of what has happened the last 20 years can all be explained by this one thing
The adamant elite refusal to call bullshit is a big part of How We Got Here.

The prevailing cultural attitude for years is you must not, under any circumstances, treat anything as bad faith. You are obligated to find some reasonable idea and engage with that, even if you distort to get there.

The video is absolutely appalling.

Nothing pisses off a white cop more than a person of color uttering the words “I have rights.”

I think @keithedwards.bsky.social nails it here, with the next step being Republicans like MTG and Burchett rallying around Trump for "exposing the Democrats."

Again we see the incoherence of right-wing policy. Rounding up homeless people and imprisoning them *is* housing them! Punitive solutions to this problem also cost a shitload and require a massive bureaucracy.

They are fine with providing housing, but only if it is ineffective and dehumanizing.
This is the line of thinking. Prevent states and localities from being more protective of the unhoused than SCOTUS. Do it through financial coercion.

An eating disorders chatbot offered dieting advice, raising fears about AI in health
The National Eating Disorders Association took down a controversial chatbot, after users showed how the newest version could dispense potentially harmful advice about dieting and calorie counting.

Beyond this, there is also a real class solidarity among the wealthy. Your company might go bankrupt but there are always more board seats or VC money or high paid sinecures for those who stay in the good graces of the rich. Easily observable with union busting and environmental regulations.
the standing belief that corporations exist solely to chase profits isn't quite correct

corporations exist to serve the interests of the owners & executives; since a big chunk of this class decided society got 'too woke' the corporations they control now prioritize racism/sexism ahead of profits
the thing about 2025 that’s unambiguously true but still hard for me to really get my head around is how large companies are very ready to put racism ahead of profits.

I wish everyone would start naming the actual people doing these things instead of just saying 'Trump' as a blanket word. It's not like all of this will stop when he dies. The people puppet-ing him will still be there. Trump, himself, with his oatmeal brains, doesn't know most of what's going on.
In his first term, Trump politicized the position of immigration judge. Now he is firing them for not providing the decisions he wants.
The judge interviewed said he was pressured to dismiss cases so that ICE could arrest people outside courtrooms.

So, the SDPD is punching people in the head and kneeing them in the side while they’re face down? This is ridiculous. I’m so tired of seeing videos like this of cops abusing their power.

He is screaming “ayuda” (help!). We all need to be prepared to step in and help when we see this happening. This is terrifying.
I can’t even put my revulsion into words.
🧵 Albuquerque, NM — A man was violently tased & tackled inside the Walmart at 2250 Coors Blvd by unidentified masked thugs in ICE & HSI vests. He screamed for help as he was dragged out. A bystander filmed it—then was kicked out of the store. Walmart is complicit in covering up a public kidnapping.

I don’t think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE.

This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined.

It is setting up to make what’s happening now look like child’s play. And people are disappearing.
