Mitch McConnell disappeared for three months & kept his full salary.

Disabled people are forced to prove they’re “still disabled” just to remain in legislated poverty.

Folks on SNAP must re-apply and prove they’re “still poor”.

Republican Senators don’t even have to prove they’re alive.

Christ, we really can’t have nice things, can we?!
Barnes & Noble buying Joseph-Beth feels totally depressing. Joseph-Beth was the first "fancy" bookstore I remember visiting as a kid--it felt so special. Independent bookstores are vital parts of communities and it's sad to see a Kentucky gem bought up.

Time for a special “on a plane” edition of “Are people oblivious, mean, or careless?”!

The guy behind me keeps using my seat to violently haul himself out of and back into his seat. He’s been wrenching my seat around like it owes him money, and he has been getting up a LOT. #travel #onaplane

Anyone can become disabled at any time.

It’s not a moral failing.

It’s not laziness or a lack of effort.

It’s a part of the human condition.

People get sick. Bodies break down.

It’s a minority group you can join any time.

Disabled people are not “less than”.

Our worth is not contingent on whether we’re able to work.

Disability is not a moral failing, it’s the only minority group you can join at any time.

Most people will end up disabled, yet they judge us and assume they will be the exception.

Very few are.

Y’all, I have some really good news. My appeal for SSDI was on 8/3. We expected to wait months for the decision but it came back today. We won. After almost 2 years of fighting, I cannot accurately describe the sense of accomplishment and relief. We fuckin won.

“If it were really that bad you would have more support”.

People believe that when you’re disabled, help magically appears.

That when you get worse, you get more help and/or funding.

The reality is far different.

There’s little to no help.

We live in legislated poverty.

Survival is hard.

Disability will happen to almost everyone.

Most people are only temporarily abled.

It’s not a moral failing.

It’s not a choice people make.

The human body is frail.

It only takes one illness, accident or stroke of bad luck to forever change your health.

Do you have any idea how exhausting all this is for people with chronic illnesses or food allergies or disabilities that meant they needed reliable, pre-packed food, more easily on hand, day-to-day? Because lemme tell you, it's FUCKING EXHAUSTING.

Today’s the big day. We’ll deeply appreciate any thoughts, prayers, and/or good juju you can spare today. 🤞🏻
Tomorrow is Paul's disability court date. Please keep us in your thoughts. Disability isn't much, but it would be life-changing. After 2 years (minus a couple of weeks), I wouldn't be the sole income-producer in our tiny family. And I work in an industry that could be poofed off the planet in Nov. 🤞

Some asshat hijacked her account and reposted literally thousands of things - no rhyme or reason to any of it. She’s understandably upset but ok and working on unposting everything. Pfp and headline will go back to normal soon, and pw change was the first step.
Sorry, y'all. My Bsky account was hacked. Think I fixed it. LMK if it's still bad. Thanks.

Anyone who platforms, celebrates or enables Conor McGregor should be boycotted.

He raped a woman so violently she had to have a tampon surgically removed from her body.

He’s trying to make a comeback, and our patriarchal rape culture is allowing it.

Looking at you Jimmy Fallon….

Happy Disability Pride Month!

Now more than ever we need everyone engaged in disability justice.

Fascists target the disabled.

If you want to fight fascism, help the disabled.

Wear a mask. Get vaccinated. Fight for public health, housing and Medicare for all.

We desperately want to get better.

Many of us have tried more treatments and therapies than people like Alan can fathom.

Sometimes nothing works.

Some things don’t have a cure.

We need more research, more funding and more awareness.

And we need that article retracted.
