America is literally deporting people to countries they have no connection with, countries they’ve never been to. This is wildly unlawful. It’s cruel. It’s un-American. It’s evil.

Trump, 2016: "When we win ... we will be able to immediately repeal and replace Obamacare. ... And we will do it very, very quickly."
Trump, 10 years later: "We will pass a truly great health care plan."
Still no health care plan.
Trump: "We will pass the No Invasion of Our Country Act prohibiting any future president from every opening our borders to illegal immigrants again. We will pass a truly great healthcare plan."

This underscores why it’s so hard to cover Trump.

Every sentence contains multiple lies, true, but *also* each lie is made for a different reason.

Some are premeditated, some a product of dementia, some a product of being raised in a cult, some only semiconscious, some born of fear.

He’s a mess.

He says this with a straight face as gas reaches $4.50/gal, diesel reaches $6.50/gal, mortgage rates soar over 7%, grocery costs are rising, and Americans’ sentiments towards the economy are the lowest they’ve been since the Great Recession.

Sen. Mike Lee: "I won't be a bit surprised if President Trump decides at one point to say, 'You know, President Xi, let's go visit Panda Express and see what you think of their broccoli beef.' I'd love to see that happen. That's the kind of thing President Trump likes to do."

US has deported more than 25,000 people under secretive agreements with 35 countries to take migrants with no ties to those nations, according to an investigation published Monday

TRUMP: Well, I don't know about that. I think we're repressive also

This Post report might be an early indicator of a shift in the press corps' attitude toward Trump. Widespread economic pain is going to turn reporters against him. It happened during the pandemic. Reporters just stopped playing along as the body count rose.

People should not have to fight to have healthcare in this country.

It's clinical narcissism. The only way he can engage on this subject is by making it about himself.

It's the same with 9/11. He knows he's supposed to acknowledge it, somberly pay tribute or whatever, & literally the only way he can is by inserting himself into it.
Trump pays tribute to Medal of Honor recipients: "The thing I really want is I want is, myself, a congressional Medal of Honor. And I've studied it. I'd give it to myself, I'd have no problem, but I'm not allowed to."
