Just as the mass of 4 blue cornflower plants start to produce blooms, hot then cold strong winds of early spring play havoc with the plants, I doubt I'll get many more flowers

Fresh ginger taken from a pot I started 12 months ago drying out
It'll be a little longer before I can harvest the main crop of ginger in an old bathtub, due to very wet soil from a wet winter so far

My ginger has not yet gone dormant despite being mid winter with single digit temperatures overnight
There's a couple of new green shoots appearing

I dug up the remaining potatoes while the soil was dry and apparent rain arrived
Not a bad haul from half a dozen spuds as seeds 🥔🥔

I needed a couple of potatoes to roast with steak for dinner and dug out these 4 beauties from the top soil
I started with 6 unwashed spuds from the supermarket with eyes sprouting instead of waiting for nurseries to supply seeds, a good crop looks promising #Gardeningaus 🌱 #Gardening

Winter temperatures not as warm now, even though my jalapeno seedling is flowering & looking healthy, it's time to go indoors behind a sunny window because the nights are freezing now
I'm wondering if the plant will go dormant at all now 🌶️🌱

A few weeks after transplanting the jalapeno seedling to a bigger for over winter, it has thrived in a mild winter so far.
Overnight temperatures staying in single digit temperatures now, so it's probably time for protection in the shed near a sunny window til September 🌶️🌱

7 days since repotting a Jalapeno seedling I started from seeds from supermarket pods(proper stuffing size pods), it has survived lots of rain & fluctuating late autumn temperatures.
Winter begins tomorrow so I'll be taking it inside once it decides the cold sucks once it arrives 🌶️🌱

Prune in June 🌱 ✂️

Only 4 dry sunny days since 10th of May, blooms have been few and far between
Last day of autumn has probably been the coolest, warm temperatures & lots of rain has some plants flowering yet winter colour foliage

First attempt at scorching Sugar rush peach pods (Chinense peppers) which smoked up the kitchen
I had to open the windows and doors to allow near gale force winds to aeration
Due to natural sweetness of the pods, only needed kosher salt & vinegar for an awesome smokey sweet & bitey sauce 🌶️🌱

Sugar rush peach pods from 2 of 5 plants enjoying autumn rain and temperatures finally under 30C
They'll be dried and turned to sauce, I'm wondering if they'd make a good chilli oil like Serrano pods in the jars 🤔 🌶️🌱
Has anyone dabbled in chilli oil with non red chilli pods ?

First ripe sugar rush peach pods added with Anaheim pods for another sauce, this time adding onion and garlic flakes for a different flavour
Having the doors and windows closed with the air conditioner cranked wasn't a good idea for scorching Chinense pods 🤧 🌶️🌱

A new type of corn I'm growing( Early Leaming corn ) can apparently grow over 300cm tall and has red silks
I thought the strong winds might snap the more slender stalks, but so far so good
I just hope the cockatoos are not attracted to the crop

Anaheim pods coming on as the fruit flies come out with the high humidity
A nice smokey flavour from easily scorched pods( hot wax pods took longer to scorch) from ripe & semi ripe pods 🌶️🌱

Chocolate bih Jolokia harvest turned into a paste
They're not as hot as it's red brother or cousin Bhut Jolokia, but they still deliver a good punch to the mouth/tongue without the earthy flavours of the hotter types

This summer has been tough on plants in full sun, luckily the hibiscus is potted for easier moving

Sugar rush peach & Hot wax pods so far surviving a brutal summer
The sugar rush peach plant wouldn't have survived without shade cloth, pods & foliage have been sunburned more than previous summers with constant 40C+ baking sun since Xmas
Not doing 34 pepper plants again 🥵 🌶️🌱

Serranos from a second season plant has provided lots of early pods for sauce
Hot wax thicker pods have resisted getting sunburned or wilting from extreme heat (leaf curl from storm rains New year), they'll be good for frying with other peppers for a spicy sauce
