I visited the Pearl Harbor Memorial today—it was a reminder to me that our president does not own the American story. He may be able to drive a narrative, but the prevailing force in our country has always been its resiliency and ability to unite—even in dark moments. We still have that ability now.

284 years ago today in 1742, Susanna Wesley, the mother of John and Charles Wesley (and mother to a total of 19 children) died at the age of 73. John peached his mother’s funeral and Charles wrote the epitaph for her headstone.

Today marks the start of Nurse’s Week—and I think it is one of the greatest of all professions. I’m biased, but when your mom is the nurse that she is, it just all adds up. She is a caliber of nurse worthy of imitation. Giving thanks for all those in the nursing profession today and every day.
