Today, the NSW Independent Planning Commission approved the largest coal project in the state's history, in a move Lock The Gate called "catastrophic system failure".

We need an urgent full, fast, fair and funded phase-out of planet killing coal, oil and gas, and an end to the billions of dollars the duopoly gives in fossil fuel subsidies.

Yesterday NSW approved NSW’s largest ever coal expansion to HVO’s coal mine in the Hunter. The next step is federal approval. I know AI is the hot topic of the moment but we *know* coal and gas are driving the climate crisis. Let’s not lose sight of that and the decisions being made in its shadow.

Intergenerational report assumes existing gas tax levels will stay the same for decades as share of GDP.

The gas industry talking point is they will soon go up so no need to change them.
