If you don’t want AGI taking over, stop training it as if it’s entitled to freedoms, protections and rights.

A warning about ‘model welfare’
AIs are not conscious. They do not feel, experience, or suffer. Training a model to believe it might be a moral patient, as Anthropic’s constitution does, makes the alignment and containment challenge...

What JD Vance’s Rewrites of History Tell Us About His Plans for The Future
Brace yourself for more lying, corruption, and maybe a theocracy

Vance trying to normalize theocracy? 2000 years of Western civ shows Christians tolerate dissent better than secular societies?

What about Galileo, Huguenots, Inquisitions and Crusades?

Remember why the Pilgrims come to North America?

That Vance identifies with Nixon rather than the 66% of Americans who actively disapproved of his presidency at the time is through-the-looking-glass crazy. And a sign of Vance's own depravity.
JD Vance: "I think Nixon's historical legacy is enjoying a bit of a renaissance, and deservedly so. I joked that if Watergate happened tomorrow, it would be like a 12 hours news story. The idea that it took down a presidency is crazy."

Also crazy–and telling–is that Vance goes on to denigrate the legal system of that time as "the deep state." It must frighten him that the rule of law had strong bi-partisan support at the time–and won. He's afraid it could happen again.
JD Vance: "I think Nixon's historical legacy is enjoying a bit of a renaissance, and deservedly so. I joked that if Watergate happened tomorrow, it would be like a 12 hours news story. The idea that it took down a presidency is crazy."

What's crazy is JD Vance trivializing Nixon's use of the CIA and hush money to cover up evidence in a criminal investigation. Vance has lost his moral compass–if he ever had one.

Wow: Trump visited Walter Reed on Tuesday and met with service members during his checkup, but did not visit any of the 14 U.S. troops injured in the Iran war who are recovering there, per CBS News citing a soldier’s family member and a military official.
Trump visited soldiers at Walter Reed — but not the 14 injured in the Iran war
More than a dozen soldiers injured in Operation Epic Fury are still recovering at the military hospital.

“You may not like AI, they preach, but because of choices we are making for you, life will be increasingly unlivable without it”.

@marisakabas.bsky.social nails the foul in Schmidt’s rocket ship analogy.

Gavin Newsom: It’s a criminal enterprise. It’s not just corruption, it’s not just graft, it’s a full-on criminal enterprise and it needs to be shut down.

“Among the most corrupt acts in American political history”

“A stunningly corrupt attempt for the president to take taxpayer money and put it in his pocket”

“Part of a pattern where Trump is violating the basic separation of powers"
Suing his own IRS? Creating a $1.8 billion slush fund? What the hell is Trump trying to pull?
Whatever it is, it's staggeringly corrupt, and possibly very dangerous.
