Lake Therio (1/4) 🌲✨
Four kids are walking in a straight line to the right: a tall tan boy with dark brown shaggy hair wearing a red over shirt and jeans (Jo), a shorter black boy with a short hair cut wearing a yellow polo and green swim trunks (Xavier), a tall tan girl with a dark pony tail wearing a short purple top and jeans as well as a calico cat tail (June) and lastly a short white girl with long shaggy brown hair wearing anoversized green shirt and cargo shorts wearing a fox tail (May). Bellow them is a lake with the title: RomeTwin Illustration Presents - Lake Therio. We see an establishing shot of a campground at a lakeside: Small cabins and a flagpole with a therian flag to the left, a big dining hall in the muddle, and a wilderness to the right. May stares at the large sign "Lake Therio. Welcome Campers!" looming over her. She seems nervous, which isn't helped by the bush moving next to her. May's chosen-sister, June, jumps from out of the bush to scare her. She screams. May, annoyed: Don't do that, June! June: Alley cats can't help it! Wanna go for an early swim? May: Uh... I heard that's bad luck, like you'll grown an extra... eyeball on your leg or something. June: Ewww! That's gross!! June decides to act positive, as May looks nervous. June: Hm. May, if you HAD to grow an extra body part, which would it be? May: I know I know! An extra... HEAD! (To bite more people) May starts chasing June playfully around the camp grounds. June: AAAA! Get away from me, ya two-headed weirdo! May: Reheheh Jo and his father are in front of their car as Jo is handed a backpack and a travel bag. His father looks concerned. Jo's Dad: Remember Jo, respect the counselors and their rules. They have your best interest in mind. Jo: Yes, sir. - Xavier is with his mother as she drops him off. She's beaming with pride in her son! Xavier looks bashful. Xavier's mom: I hope you like the trunks, you look so handsome! Xavier: Don't think I'll need them here, Mom. - Jo's dad: Don't forget to double check your orientation status, and call us every night before bed. Jo: Yes, sir. - Xavier's mom: You excited for the summer, baby? Xavier: YEAH! - Jo's dad: You earned this by keeping your grades up. If you continue to do so, you can keep doing... this. I don't get it, but a deal's a deal. Jo: Thanks, dad! - Xavier's mom overhears the conversation between Jo and his dad. Before leaving Xavier, she has one last thing to say: Xavier's mom: Love you, Xavier!! Don't forget to make lots of friends! Xavier: Uhhh okay Mom. I love you too.

debuted this as a poster at my last two craft markets. every new product is a gamble, this one especially so for being as specific as it is.

but i can't tell you how happy i was to hear the gasps of excitement from fellow Viet-Americans who could read the text. y'all made it worthwhile, cảm ơn 💖

Xin mời! 🦊💕
GwenFox, an anthro fox, is holding a spoon with trays of Vietnamese food in front of her. There's Chả giò (fried spring rolls), Cơm chiên (fried rice with Chinese sausage and shrimp), Bánh nậm (rice dumplings), Bánh bèo (rice cakes), Thịt kho (braised pork belly with eggs), and Cà ri dê (goat curry). To her left is another table, with side sauces. There's tương đen (hoisin sauce), tương ớt (hot chili sauce), nước chấm (garlic chili fish sauce), hành phi (fried shallots), Nước tương đậu nành (seasoning sauce). Behind everything is a sunset. Gwen says "Xin mời!" which roughly translates to "I invite you!"

beatrix (goth trans woman with black straight shoulder length hair and bangs wearing a green flannel, black pants and a witch hat) holding V (hispanic woman with black messy hair, a brown sweater, and blue jeans) floating in an abstract scene involving a big moon and buildings in either corner, defying reality. they are both crying sparkling tears that float off frame right. they are highlighted by a thick pink and blue stroke.

GwenFox is at a party, standing in the middle of the composition. In front of her is an altar with incense, rice, persimmons, flowers, and a photo facing Gwen. She smiles softly while holding a tray of Chả giò, with abstract lines protruding from her head. Behind her are guests: a black african wild dog, a Tohono Oʼodham mouse, a Vietnamese dragon and cat amongst the crowd.

gwen turns 30 🦊🎂

Narration: I turn 30 years old today. It feels weird, man. [GwenFox; a cartoon fox, looks concerned. Her thought bubble shoulda a birthday cheesecake with "30" shaped candles dripping in red liquid.] I don't dread being "old". The passage of time is just a heavy thought to sit with. [Gwen looks off into the sunset from a balcony.] Last December, I reached out to old friends I hadn't seen since high school graduation. We had a nice brunch, catching up on our lives and careers. [Gwen has brunch with two shadows of her former friends in front of a window.] In a way, it was uncanny. Surrounding me was my hometown, a reanimated corpse of strip malls that were barely recognizable. [Through the window is a strip mall with a restaurant that reads "Ass Crack Burgers".] So much has happened, the surrounding world being evident of itself moving on. I can only move forward, and when I turn around... the past will be gone. [Dressed as Orpheus from the ancient Greek story "Orpheus and Eurydice", Gwen climbs a mountain with someone holding her arm from behind. But when she turns around, nobody's there.] Narration: My bio mom turns 49 this year. We started talking again after 5 years of keeping distance. But strangely, she seems unmoved by time. The woman's situation changed, but her observations were as uncurious as the day I stopped talking to her. [GwenFox talks to a shadow of her mother over the phone.] She was a young mom, and when I look back at all the times she screamed and cried when I was a child...I realize that she was a kid herself. [Cut to Gwen's childhood. From Kid-Gwen's point of view, she is holding her mom's hand as she's being screamed at, shouting: "Why don't you want to change your last name?!! He's your dad now!!! Do you hate me???". When the narration describes Gwen's mom as a kid herself, we see her being pregnant.] Narration: The Earth will keep spinning, and I will keep evolving. Change is uncertain, but stagnation terrifies me. [GwenFox sees her shadow behind her as her mother's silhouette.] My twenties was when I made amazing friends... [We see Gwen's history through printed photographs. Gwen talks to shadows of her old friends.] ...when my heart was broken... [Gwen is crying on a couch next to somebody who's shadow has no recognizable features.] ...and when I found myself again. I may not recognize what I become by my forties... [Gwen is in front of a puddle of her old tears, and looks at her own hands.] But whoever I turn out to be, if there's still enough of me left... I hope that she stays kind and full of love. [Gwen tears her skin off, revealing the shadow of an unknown person.] "Gwen Turns 30*, by Gwen 'RomeTwin' Romer, originally finished on 10/3/2026. 2010 vs. 2026

this month is the anniversary of one of my oldest characters: Dirk! i've redrawn him and his logo.

i made Dirk in early high school for a sci fi story concept (which i'd like to turn into a comic after 'Lake Therio').
Dirk the human (2010) is holding a sci fi blaster, drawn in MS paint. Dirk the pine marten (2026) is holding his fists up, drawn in Clip Studio. "Time Machine" logo (2010) vs "Outta Time!" logo (2026).
