not to flex my own lan but metro ink solved this issue via hooking up a computer to a monitor with all upcoming matches for anyone to easily check. checking startgg mid tourney on phone is clunky & unreliable. ik riptide is a much bigger event, but this was a major qol upgrade everyone was happy abt

And as a competitor I felt like an ass having to bother a TO every time we had no idea where to go because of the same issues- and ultimately we wanted to be proactive (and were) since we had some weird pools and bracket (we got 2 whole byes for the event).

Chiming in with the fact that I needed my portable hotspot to take transactions, the Kalahari wifi was not going to cut it even for a single transaction and these things are much lower data actions than say loading a chat application or browser.

I know TOs are already stretched thin, but if I'm honest, using one projector to display a live feed of the tournament and upcoming matches would really help, and not be much work if you just hook it up to a laptop.
okay I'm still annoyed about this, so here we go
- You cannot expect your only communication with competitors to be online and have that be without technical issues. I know for those of us on T-Mobile, we had no service (so no 4G/5G), and even though I was staying in the Kalahari, my Wi-Fi was dead

I was also frustrated all weekend with so much communication happening over Discord and startgg when I usually didn't have service. I'd like to talk more with any TO who'd be willing to listen so that I can get into where I think LANs are lacking in the player experience.

I'm still disappointed with how we placed at Riptide, because our sets were nuts. We found ourselves against strong team after strong team and we're fighting for our lives. Finished well, well lower than we were seeded and what I was working for. Lost to the teams that finished 17th, 33rd, and 66th
