We're coming up on 3 months since losing Callie, and now her best friend, Luna, is sick. Luna has been at the emergency vet since Wednesday. Progress has been slow and unsteady. Maybe it's looking up overall, but I'm scared. We can't lose both of them

Callie passed away earlier this evening. She is loved forever.

Callie passed away earlier this evening. She is loved forever.
Callie had a couple of scary episodes, and we've confirmed now that it's the worst case scenario. We will be saying goodbye in the next few days. She is the best kitty. So easy going. Took all her treatments and medication like a champ. Beat cancer twice.
Just to get it off my chest: I keep listening to different versions of Isn't She Lovely and crying. I think of Jax not wanting to leave, and I weirdly connect it with this precious soul, Callie. She's 20 years old now, with late stage kidney disease.

I won this souvenir from HMCS ALGONQUIN (DDG 283), as part of her crew during her retirement. It is a captioned picture of our WWII namesake's crew gathered to learn that they are to be "the point on the end of the spear" on D-Day. IIRC, this was hanging in the main crew's mess.

Should the Amber Alert and Emergency Notification system be improved? Yes.
Am I going to complain about interrupted sleep when there's kids missing and in danger? No.

Dionne and Emory ultimately became quite friendly with their senior "cousins" Callie and Luna. The senior babies moved out last week. They are doing well in their new home. I miss them so much.

Canada is falling behind on the road to phasing out animal testing. We need to do better. Animal testing is not only cruel, but crude. The majority of drugs that pass animal tests fail in human trials. Maybe worse is that effective drugs are failing in the animal trials!

Humans' "love" for animals often begins as something very selfish, but it can change.
I used to love seeing animals at zoos because I loved animals. Now, I hate seeing them there and avoid zoos entirely - because I still love animals.

I'm temporarily sitting my previous kitties, Callie and Luna, for my ex. I'm crying. I missed them so much. They aren't getting along with Dionne and Emory, but I think they have learned to keep separate. I can see both pairs of kitties snuggling. I don't deserve any of them.

I am not a fan of the Canadian narrative "at least we're not as bad as the US," but after seeing and reading the statements from our political and media leaders regarding Tumbler Ridge, it's hard to argue with that narrative.
