Today at Rusty: during the harvest reinforcements came in the form of. @ac_call and Anthony who processed lots of the food scraps as I was harvesting. Then @yesbaines came to take the relay with veggies from grow a row from @sunnysidecommunitygarden .

Saturday at Rusty! Another 2 crates of veggies for the @swma.nyc pantry, a nearly completed composting bin (a few panels of hardware cloth, roofing and siding are the only missing pieces, processing another 75# food scraps and meeting a praying mantis on the way home. That's what happens at Rusty!

Saturday at Rusty! Another 2 crates of veggies for the @swma.nyc pantry, a nearly completed composting bin (a few panels of hardware cloth, roofing and siding are the only missing pieces, processing another 75# food scraps and meeting a praying mantis on the way home. That's what happens at Rusty!

Today at Rusty: thanks to @obstacle_vessel , Adelina, and Michael we did a nice harvest, processed foods scraps, did some weeding, set angled tomato hangers, trellised and suckered tomatoes and planted a first set of seedlings in preparation for the fall season.

Last Saturday (08/01/26) at Rusty, thanks to 3 students from Brooklyn tech we got a harvest done and washed for SWMA, toters of browns, mushroom spent blocks, sawdust emptied, mixed and piled up for the next few weeks of composting, and processed food scraps!!!

Today at Rusty: thank you for the help of 2 high school students for the task of finishing the door and transferring the compost in process from the big metal bin to the new bin with a door! Also thanks to @nsspusa for the neighborhood cleanup !

After a somewhat dry then wet harvest of greens and a few carrots, followed by the usual rinse and hand off to @swma.nyc we went back out to process some food scraps, but the rain came back with a vengeance, so we headed downstairs to make soil block and seed them to new plans to be ready

Last Wednesday at rusty! We cleaned up litter from the wildflower bed and check on the plants that survived the harsh winter, we also planted a few black eyed Susans that someone didn't want anyone to enrich the bed.

We started as usual, processing food scraps, we then added some hardware cloth to the new bins, harvestes a few pounds of greens from the micro grees, and rhe seedligs that are juat a little too advanced. After the hand off to the @swma.nyc we went back ou to weed, plant, sift compoat, and mox a new batch of soil mix, before finishing the day with a few seeds to keep it rolling.

Today at rusty: checking on the compost, listeing to birds, and emptying 6 bins of browns into our btown's bin. With just me as no other volunteer came today.... i then went to take care or the seedlings, and finished the inventory of viable seeds (already tested)

Today at rusty: after checking on the compost, wich temp is coming down from the thermophilic (heat making) phase, we went to the basement to make sure the seelings are in good shape, the microgreens seeded saturday are already poppoing up!
