🌱 Some positive marine conservation news, #seagrass meadows are extraordinarily valuable habitats, and this is a brilliant example of how relatively simple changes in the way we use the sea can give damaged ecosystems space to recover

🚨 Bluesky… anyone on here from the UK who is a marine biologist specialising in deep sea research? If so & if you’d be happy to do a 5 minute segment for BBC Radio 4’s ‘Today’ show at 08:35 tomorrow about the Trump administration nearing approval for permits to mine the deep sea, please reach out!

Another iconic symbol of overfishing: bluefin tuna (think million dollar Japanese auctions), is returning to British waters and all populations are rebuilding or doing well. So much better of a story than 10 or 15 years ago.

🤿 A couple of weeks ago I was at Catterline as part of my coastal partnership work. I’d taken my snorkel gear to go in after for a quick dip if the conditions allowed.

🤿 Last week I had a great time guiding a small group near Portsoy in the Moray Firth!
Vibrant colours and plenty of critters out there to observe, here are a few of my favourite snaps from that tour!

🐟 🦈 A few snips of my GoPro footage from the Celtic Deep, including the juvenile Atlantic Wreck Fish (aka the Stone Bass, Polyprion americanus) which *almost* stole the show!!
Adults can reach 2m and they’re thought to live for around 90yrs!! 🌊

🪼 🌧️ The natural world doesn’t hurry, perform, or demand to be seen.

It simply exists.

Slow down. Observe. Breathe.

Sometimes the greatest sense of peace isn’t something we find—it’s something we notice has been there all along. 💙
