It'simple:
Everyone who is more into functional programming than me is a dork with math envy afraid of actual hardware, everyone who is less into functional programming than me is an uncultured philistine stuck in 1982 writing C.

There is a cyber circle formed by the 7 thaumaturgical supercomputers built on the fiberoptic line. The moment they stop computing, the containment is broken and the Omnibug escapes the primordial cyber hole.

„Look at that subtle off-white coloring. The tasteful thickness of it. Oh, my God. It even has a watermark.“

Ok, thank you, I don’t think we need to look at the rest of them, now give me back the other ink blots.

if you start hearing somebody refer to things in public conversations with proper nouns between themselves and their AI, you are dealing with somebody who has cracked and may need significant assistance

"oh yeah I just use Fooblert [a search skill] for that" is an early warning sign
the dawkins AI thing is mostly interesting because he freely admits it
imagine how many public figures are exactly the same just more careful about discussing it out loud to anyone except to their claudia

Banksy feels like a mean spirited parody of what art can be.

It’s just „really makes you think, like and share if you agree“ mid 2010s Facebook slop, fight me.

They say PL people only produce languages that are good for implementing languages but that pathology seems laughably tame compared to LLM frameworks/orchestrators…

people are not talking enough about how AI is a huge force multiplier, for how much of a loser you are.

many cool people are having nuanced convos and figuring out how to be more productive/creative

but people who already sucked? turning in total slop and bragging about how this changes everything

I vastly prefer mahjong over chess because getting sharked for my lunch money by a bunch of grandmas feels so much more dignified than anything in the chess world

this is like how Aubrey and Maturin met
At the Friday morning orchestra concert I just sat next to a guy who waited out a *forty-six-minute* piece of music in order to raucously boo it at the end. Incredible degree of commitment to being a hater

This is a complete fabrication. The linked study does not find this nor does it purport to find this nor does it even attempt to find anything like this nor does it involve collecting or analyzing any data whatsoever about children in households that used voice commands.
Oh:

A 2022 study found that children in households that used voice commands with tools like Siri and Alexa became curt when speaking with humans, often calling out “Hey, do X” and expecting obedience, especially from anyone whose voice resembled the default-female electronic voices.

Incredible Gell-Mann moment seeing people I thought to be smart repost this preprint and call it exciting or even particularly interesting.
Physicist has written a fascinating big beautiful paper.Let’s not be afraid to call it what it is - groundbreaking.

Everyone knows the real reason why json won over xml is because the latter was too pointy and the former has much better affordances because it's curvier
