You may be the hackiest reporter in a world of hacky reporters if you state a fact and then tell viewers "you can see if that's true or not." It's your *job* to know if what you just said is true or not. This is not acceptable cover for a lie.
"For everybody who is wondering there checks are from DOGE, I believe that when those checks were discussed, they said those were going to come at the *end* of Trump's term. You can see if that's true or not, but that's what I remember."
