It takes you 20 paragraphs to get to the part of the article where they admit that Mamdani isn't paying the influencers and the reason they are posting videos of the stuff Mamdani is doing is because people are interested in watching it.

applying liberatory rhetoric to a technology that is explicitly being developed to replace humans holistically (rather than just at specific tasks) is goofy at best and probably much worse

Across a whopping 19 articles published by the New York Times on Mamdani's views of Israel-Palestine since January 2026, Palestinian New Yorkers are quoted twice, a pathetic 3% of the quotes total.

Overall, critics of Mamdani's views on this issue are quoted 2x the amount of times as supporters.
Mamdani Is Critical of Israel, and the Times Is on It
Who does the Gray Lady quote on this important issue? Plus, more news for your weekend.

the dumbest all AI pileons all start the same way. an AI booster makes a nonspecific claim about how there are valuable use cases and opposition is from luddites and idiots.
Gonna briefly do an AI take: it used to be possible to have interesting discussions about AI here, and it's got progressively less so. You can't just think AI is bad, or overhyped, you've also got to subscribe to a very particular worst-case scenario about *how* it's bad and how bad it is.

Also none of the rank and file software engineers on Bluesky have talked to a non software engineer in their entire lives
the average tech exec and venture capitalist and honestly an alarming amount of bay area software engineers have close to zero interaction or connection with regular people, and the richer they are, the more isolated they've become. They have built rationalizations for everything.
Tech execs do not have, like, a theory of mind for people who aren’t tech execs. If they did, they wouldn’t be so frequently baffled by how repulsive normal people think their whole deal is right now

It's worth disambiguating this, on Democratic professionals, from simply "wanting to win." The GOP wants to win in order to enact fascist policies. But Democratic professionals want to win because anyone else winning would be childish and irresponsible. This is why their main posture the lecture.
Everything else is negotiable besides the idea that they're more serious and responsible than the right or left. Letting anyone else make these calls is simply irresponsible.

it's that plus a pretty large amount of "we cannot let these people into politics" - even where a muslim candidate tries to avoid the issue (mamdani) it's all israel all the time whenever one of us runs. you'd think they'd see it but i genuinely think a lot of them dont
It's rarely ever said so outright but basically the thesis of the Stevens surrogates as of today is that Arab Americans cannot possibly have any legitimate grievances about someone who is openly and proudly supportive of a country that kills their families lol

A great example of how absurd US politics is is that Abdul El Sayed feels compelled to tell random people online to not make fun of Stevens' accent, but an actual elected official who is a Stevens supporter can say that Abdul shouldn't speak Arabic in public and Stevens won't condemn it.
"Cool kids on the Internet. They're doing the cool kid chatter. Some of 'em might be the coastal elites, making fun of how I talk. But let's be real. They're making fun of Michigan. They're thinking they're better than us. Their jokes, their criticism, only make me fight harder."

The beautiful game. The people’s game.

Throughout this World Cup, we have been reminded of a simple truth: football belongs to everyone. So does the joy and community it creates.

Yesterday, I joined New Yorkers on Rikers Island to watch England take on Argentina.

You're absolutely right. The Republic of Iraq didn't have a weapons of mass destruction program, which was easily verifiable. That was my bad with the unilateral invasion and assassination of Saddam Hussein's sons - It's good you're such an intuitive thinker who can avoid future missteps like that.

I can't put into words the feeling of watching our government, a hive of evil antisocial filth, the absolute worst humanity has to offer, colliding with the best. Ordinary people trying to help each other, risking everything to stand up for what's plainly, unambiguously fair and right. It's unreal
