Concede for the sake of the argument that the aim of philosophy (and cognate fields) is about finding out more truths. That should be people extra-weary of using AI in research. Recently my partner used Clause for help planning a day in Seoul.

I am looking for some review articles on dreaming, particularly: 1. the state of the art from the perspective of cognitive sciences. 2. the relation between dreaming and how we make sense of our waking experience. This is an urgent request so please share this widely. Thanks!

An example of how *not* to present different perspectives on a complex issue. Most of the article assumes uncritically the idea that deafness is a horrible thing in need of eradication. *One* paragraph on a deaf (and possibly Deaf?) scholar who argues otherwise. Then end on overjoyed "blessed" mom.

“Fueling brains”. The overvaluation of intellectual abilities over ethical ones start so early. How about we nurture some hearts.

I'm not much on social media these days, so as to not give in to despair, but want to share that I'm back to doing research after a long hiatus (teaching+holidays), and I'm so chuffed I made 19 powerpoint slides in 2 hours (2799 words & cool pics/GIFs). Yay!

I second this advice. I’ve been a donor since I was in grad school, and a monthly donor for several years now. It’s a great organization that does work in all the (too many) places that need it.

Here is the short and pretty version of a paper I published at the beginning of the year in which I argue that sleeping is valuable aesthetically, interpersonally and intrinsically. Happy to say that a short book on this topic is forthcoming with Princeton U press. #philsky #philosophy #sleeping
In a culture that prizes efficiency, sleep is often seen as a waste of time, or something to ‘hack’. But, as @saraprotasi.bsky.social argues, sleep is more than just a tool for higher productivity; it is intrinsically valuable and has its own aesthetic pleasures to be enjoyed
Sleep is not just a physical need but a delicious pleasure | Aeon Essays
The idea that we should reduce sleep to an efficient minimum in our lives gets something fundamentally wrong

Immigrants begging to be deported are languishing in ICE’s Aurora detention facility. Deportation, once seen as a loss, is much needed relief from detention for some.

**They are making detention so bad that people beg to be deported. Think about that.**

Despite the Trump administration’s mass deportation policy, immigrants have languished behind bars in Colorado, largely in the dark about when they will be freed.
