It's getting to the point where there are simply too many wars, insurgencies and atrocities happening everywhere all at once to keep track of. I imagine the world wars in the beginning felt like this. Disparate countries and conflicts that are interconnected one way or another

America is by no means unique in this but the American obsession with sports is best understood as a social pathology meant to further already rampant reactionary anti-intellectualism and depoliticization. Look how ruthlessly political dissenters are punished by the leagues.
