So, wasn't well enough to attend FrightFest which was a shame but have managed to watch season one of Furious which I'd very much recommend.

I lost my perfect boy Casper last night. I'm heartbroken. He was the best boy.

I'd say Eli Roth must put a decent effort into being one of the most loathsome people in horror but I suspect it comes very naturally to him.

Interesting to note that The Home Team were accused of having an artist use AI for their designs. They've released a Fuck AI shirt which is being critiqued for... looking like AI. Increasingly the Witchfinder General approach is not going to work as AI continues to gobble up genuine artist's work

Hello, today I got to wear one of the masks from Kill List. I think we can all agree I've peaked.

Widow's Bay continues to be some of the best horror TV in some time.

Making my first visit to Watershed Bristol tomorrow. Have somehow not made it until now.

Would suggest people go check out Widow's Bay - good weird vibes and Matthew Rhys being great.

Starting a new job on Monday so things have been fairly quiet for the podcast and writing. Hoping to get back into it when I'm a bit more settled.

And yes, The Sheep Detectives:

The Sheep Detectives
An excellent ensemble voice cast uplifts an occasionally wonky live action script. Synopsis: Every night a shepherd reads aloud a murder mystery, pretending his sheep can understand. When he is fou…

Saw HOKUM today and was pleasantly surprised after (whisper it) not really rating Oddity but enjoying Caveat. I support Damian McCarthy's unending dedication to get people to be as frightened of rabbits as I am.

Hokum
Damian McCarthy’s brand of weird jump scares and supernatural presences makes a leap in budget and star power while retaining the uncanny nature that has won him so many admirers. Synopsis: A…

Darren at Warped Perspective is doing some retrospectives of video nasties I'd urge people to check out (plus the site in general)

That’s Nasty! The Bogey Man (1980)
In 1983, the Director Of Public Prosecutions published its first list of movies which were tagged with the tabloid-friendly label of Video Nasties. These cinematic outliers were deemed to have to p…

Great piece by Sharai on two ⭐very⭐ different films with similar family dynamics. They Will Kill You was definitely more of a hit for me because it is so aware of tone that you just go with every single mad second it offers you.

SAYING READY OR NOT 2: HERE I COME, AND THEY WILL KILL YOU ARE THE SAME MOVIE PROVES YOU FAILED SCRIPT ANALYSIS AND DIMINISHES THE IMPORTANCE OF BLACK GIRL RAGE
Two women fighting back, two completely different conversations: mistaking Ready or Not 2 and They Will Kill You for the same story exposes how quickly media literacy collapses when Black girl rage…

New episode!
