I wrote this a month or so ago. I was thinking about trying to apply some design to it before remembering I have the graphical design skills of a stunned haddock. One of the problems with Aphantasia.

Wrote 990 words today on an outline for a thing.

It might be a game setting or a story setting.

Or something around there.

Today is one of those days where I try and find a meaning to my existence.

It's not going well.

I have a working idea for a game, that in my brain is the first part of a series. I say game but really it's a setting. Existential horror without magic. Part of me worries it's too close to the bone. Part of me thinks it's my brain's way of coping with reality.

It's called Infiltration, more soon.

I am going to try and post more here and on Mastodon. As I try and navigate post redundancy and attempt to work out what my next steps are.

I have been getting a few freelance writing roles and am looking to do more of that. I am hoping I can step away from software development for a while.

One fun bit of Conpulsion today was remembering that I am quite a good salesman when it comes to games :)

I'm sharing this again because I still feel it's one of the best things I've ever written.

For various reasons I really don't want to maintain my personal website. It's too mentally draining at the moment. I was thinking of using Substack to write some of the articles I'm cogitating on but does anyone have any thoughts for other options for long form writing platforms?

So today I did a thing. I took a map I made a few years ago and used it to make a one page dungeon. This was mostly an experiment in learning to use Scribus to make PDF's but I figured I would also use it an an experiment in making it available on Itch.

Didn't write any additional words exactly today but did a post edit work through of 100 village quirks. Tomorrow I'm going to try laying it out as a PDF.

139 words today not a lot but I did some work on a couple personal projects including play testing the rules for a solo journalling game I started a couple of years. The rules worked ok, I need to remember my plans for it. Still some progress made.

So yeah 460 words written today for a project and then I played a bit of Fallout New Vegas.

Which was fun. As I'm not properly ramping up until April I'm cool with this. Got some plans for tomorrow.

So yesterday I wrote 490 words towards a RPG product, I'll be doing more of that today as well as some personal projects.

Going to try and make a habit of posting my daily word count.

Not posted here for a while, the Instagram to Threads and Facebook implementation kind of simplifies stuff for me.

Simon news:

I've been eating a lot of salad and painting a whole bunch of figures. I've managed to lose a bunch of weight.

And I'm being made redundant. Which sucks.

I wrote a very short mood piece story yesterday. Something that's been stuck in my brain for years. Enjoy.

I have a thought for neutering the gammons a bit. From now on we should refer to the European Human Rights Act as Churchills Human Rights Act.

And now they are having to argue against Churchill and the rules he managed to convince the Europeans to accept.

So on the one hand I think rolling back the UK gun ownership is a truly awful idea.

But if it happens and "Self defence" becomes a valid reason for owning one I'm getting one and learning to use it.

Having a moment. There's a playtest due to start for GURPS Ring of Fire. So we've got a game I love and a series of books I love and the chance to run a playtest for it?

A few years back I'd have jumped at it. But now I can't for so many reasons.

Which makes me sad.
