Some excellent stuff for writers to ruminate about in this article. For instance, Steinbeck had long been plagued by self-doubt and insecurity about his writing abilities, and thought his writing was crap. That's wild to me! He's a master storyteller.

After reading two contemporary novels, I'm back to one of my favorites, John Steinbeck. Once I read this one, then I'll have read all of his books. It's been a great journey for me! I love so many of his novels: Tortilla Flat, The Grapes of Wrath, Cannery Row, East of Eden. Have you read this novel?

One of the things writers have to endure that's not talked enough about is the waiting. Writers wait for things for SO LONG. Months can go by, years even, for tidbits of news about their manuscripts or their books. Was it accepted by an agent? Still waiting. Months! Once accepted by an agent... 1/2

Some of my fave back issues in my collection are Marvel Team-Up #1-4 with covers drawn by Gil Kane! Kane's style is dramatic and weird, and I love them! The series showed potential in the first dozen issues, then seemed to lose steam later on except for a great Claremont and Byrne run. Sigh...
