Ew, Joyce
What the fuck, Joyce. I don’t even read romance novels but this kind of thinking pisses me the fuck off. It further pushes that mentality that some books as “lesser” which is bullshit! All books count!

i worry that men think being A Good Guy is dramatically and heroically intervening on behalf of an endangered woman and then being publicly rewarded on a grand scale when actually being A Good Guy is just usually saying, “hey man that’s not funny” or “wow that’s fucked up” and there is no reward

“But what about their bright futures?!” 😱

Yeah, it should turn their lives to rubble. We should’ve been ruining their lives this whole time.

It's verb tense week at School of Le Guin:

Here's today's column on the astonishing, ongoing mistreatment of people with #ME/CFS. Please spread it far and wide: the only thing which can break the media's wall of indifference is seeing an article about the issue go viral. Thank you. 1/2

Exercise Six is a BEAST, but I'm pleased to be back in session (though running late) after that brief interlude for a carnivorous peach tree. Nonetheless, longing for the easy, breezy days of last weekend:

This week’s School of Le Guin has been delayed… by a story inspired by last week’s School of Le Guin 😂

“The tree waits for me, Grandma’s pride. Her peach tree, its leaves chittering in the wind. Its boughs drooping with a glut of peaches.”

Last week was Upside-down Week: I went in scared and ended up thrilled. Usually, it's "pride goeth before a fall" around here.

Do you have an example of a time expectations got turned on their head for you?

Don’t think of it as “sitting down and writing a novel.”

Just sit down and write that scene. Sit down and fill that page.

Just sit down. Start typing.

It's done! Because yes, we ARE still going, amazingly. And still learning. This week has been all about how, when you put in the effort, your writing pays you back by doing more work than you ever knew it could

And repetition, also repetition

School of Le Guin is kicking my ASS this week. Thinking about the heady days of last week, when I was only getting lightly beaten about the head.

Anyone else set themselves mind-bending challenges for no earthly reason? If so, what are some standouts?
