Sol is proof that our fosters are remarkably multi-faceted! Take Sol’s foster, for example, who clearly moonlights as a photographer in their spare time! They recently snapped a few too-cute-not-to-share photos & we’re not exaggerating when we say these might be the cutest photos we’ve seen all year

A year ago, Haze arrived at our shelter under heartbreaking circumstances. Her owner Ana was in a car accident and fell into a coma, separating them. But a year, Ana was browsing our website when a familiar face stopped her in her tracks. It was Haze! She reached out they were reunited!

SDHS alum Levi celebrated his first Gotcha Day! His adopter shares: "We celebrated Levi's Gotcha Day. Congratulations to the Class of 2026... the raccoon class, that is! These three orphaned raccoons are the very first graduates of the new raccoon nursery at our Ramona Wildlife Center! They were released together where they can continue life as wild raccoons, just as they were meant to.

When you find five young lodgepole chipmunks in your camper van, it comes as quite the surprise! After discovering these tiny passengers and not finding a parent nearby, a community member brought them to us for care.

Opossums are one of the most beneficial yet misunderstood animals in our communities. Despite a common misconception, it's extremely rare for them to carry rabies due to their naturally low body temperature. They also act as nature's cleanup crew feeding on insects, carrion and ticks!

When a snowy plover was found with a wound on their leg they were brought to us for care. Our wildlife vets performed radiographs to assess the injury. Luckily there were no signs of infection so we began pain medication & gave them a safe place to recover. After 17 days they were released back home
