Everything Inside by Edwidge Danticat is the first of her works I’ve read. I thought it would be great to adapt it into a limited-series anthology. Dèy is Danticat's new book. The word dèy means mourning in Haitian Creole. Another text to add to my fall reading stack. #Blackbooksky #Booksky

The poet and playwright Derek Walcott composed the history plays The Haitian Trilogy. Walcott used verse to tell the story of Haiti’s four-hundred-year cycle of war, conquests, and rebellion. I imagine reading these plays alongside nonfiction works. #Blackbooksky #Booksky #Blacksky

There have been a few times when I watched the film before reading the novel, and Ragtime was one of them. I enjoyed the novel more. Set before WWI, it's a good summer-to-fall read. #Booksky

Percival Everett mentioned Samuel Butler's The Way of All Flesh over a year ago, and I added it to my reading list. I'm now including it in my fall reading. I tend to add books when authors mention or are influenced by other novels, a habit among readers. #Booksky

I started reading Paule Marshall’s *Brown Girl, Brownstones* today and wondered why I didn't read it sooner. I like the art cover, but Marshall’s vivid description of a Brooklyn street on a “somnolent July afternoon” surpasses it. At this rate, I may finish by Saturday. #Blackbooksky #Booksky
