Including lots of suburban parents whose "college fund" for their kid is a sports scholarship.
This is true. I've heard it myself countless times from parents who are very liberal, very pro LGBTQ+ these are lifelong Democrats. This is THE issue for them. They will not budge. We/allies need better consistent messaging to counter because I feel like we're all winging it individually.
the right has known sports is an effective wedge issue for more than a decade because people who otherwise support trans rights have genuine concerns about it.
