In case you missed it yesterday, I used my review of the Crystal Lake season premiere as a back door to talk about Friday the 13th at some length for what I believe is the first time ever, if that's the kind of thing you might be interested in

The third episode of Crystal Lake escalates the gore so quickly I did a Dorothy Zbornak–style "WHOA." I wish the outdoor nighttime cinematography were livelier but beyond that I'm having a ball
‘Crystal Lake’ Episode 3 recap: Hammer time
In which Pamela Voorhees knocks a woman’s face off with a meat hammer. (Are you not entertained?)

In episode 4, Crystal Lake's fairly straightforward retelling of the origin of Pamela and Jason Voorhees introduces full-fledged Dragnet-style hippies. The results are complicated, even if their fates seem set in stone.
‘Crystal Lake’ Episode 4 recap: Rage of Aquarius
Pamela Voorhees, associating sex with violence? Well, now I’ve heard everything.

In this week's action-packed MobLand, Harry Da Souza's hypercompetence may be the exact thing that gets him into the worst trouble he's ever been in as the Harrigans get hit hard
‘MobLand’ Season 2 Episode 5 recap: Family reunion
Harry Da Souza may be serious all the time, but MobLand’s wise enough to let you laugh a bit between executions.

I just happened to start CRYSTAL LAKE — and read @seantcollins.com’s great take on the opening episode — as I was finishing a talk on ANDOR and the connection Sean is making is on-point, as is everything else he says here!!
Crystal Lake is a gleefully batshit prequel/reboot/reimagining of the Friday the 13th films that asks the Andor-style question "Just how *does* a bullied boy whose drowning turns his mother psychotic become a superhuman killing machine to avenge her, exactly?" I went long on the movies and the show:

Guys guys, don't convince yourself things that white supremacists do are lame just because they're white supremacists. White supremacists do extremely cool things all the time. No wait that came out wrong...or did it 😏
