The Dark Tower is one of my favorite book series of all time! A couple of years ago when things were a bit difficult for me I spent a whole summer painting fanart for it and it made everything so much more bearable. Art is so fucking cool - interacting with it, creating & sharing it!!

That's all ✌️

After over 250 hours in Pokémon Pokopia, I finally gave up and printed the Tundra tail. I was being stubborn and wanted to find everything on my own but hot damn fossil RNG sucks! This is this last habitat I needed to be for the main Pokedex.

Halloween is an atmospheric, authentic take on bringing Michael Myers to video games. The solo mode isn’t exciting and there are bugs to navigate, but its best parts make it an easy recommendation, especially around this time of year.

Had a blast chatting with the devs about Star Wars Galactic Racer. Very excited to customize some speeders and race around the galaxy!
Star Wars: Galactic Racer Wants To Break Racing Games Out Of Their Comfort Zone
Great racing games have an x-factor that sets them apart from their peers, but you could argue that the genre hasn't meaningfully evolved over the decades. Star Wars: Galactic Racer aims to change that perception, as the new title from developer Fuse Games looks to other genres for inspiration. While it might look like a spiritual successor to 1999's Star Wars Episode 1: Pod Racer, Galactic Racer adds in some roguelite flavor and a dash of Burnout to its take on high-speed competition in a galaxy far, far away. "Our intention was actually to move the genre forward," Fuse Games CEO Matt Webster said to GameSpot. "We've made a lot of racing games in the past, and we love racing. This game came together because of a shared love of racing and Star Wars, but we needed to evolve. It needed to change; it needed to be something to push it forward and modernize it. It's probably the last sort of major genre that hasn't really had a transformative stealing of different types from different genres into racing." "And so, that's what we did here. We wanted to make a racing adventure where story and character are very important. But we've wrapped it up inside a runs-based structure. Runs-based games are games that are designed for infinite replayability, and we think racing thrives on replayability. Our assertion was that those things were going to be a great mix, and now, as that comes to life, people are coming for the Star Wars arcade racing action, but there's a boatload of depth in there." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=acy2Cixyya0 That all sounds like a fun recipe for single-player fun, but what about multiplayer? Online competition is a vital part of any racing game, and with a roguelite-influenced structure, you'd imagine that this wouldn't translate well to multiplayer racing. Fuse Games says that it has found a great balance for players who want to race against their fellow humans, as Galactic Racer's multiplayer leans heavy into the underworld aspect of Star Wars and allows you to place bets on how well you'll do in competitions. "Multiplayer is amazing in this game, because what we've done is we've taken that sort of run-based chase, and we've compressed it into about 25, 30 minutes," Webster explained. "So, in Speeder Tours, there are 12 players, Pod Racing Tours has eight players, and the tours follow the same structure, which is six events. The first five events are a build chase, so your finishing position determines what rewards you get and what parts are available to you. But importantly, you bet on your finishing position. If I'm confident, I'm going to go all in, I'm going to say I'm going to come, I'm going to place in the top three. If I achieve that, I get an epic reward. If I don't get there, I don't get as good a reward. Or you might say top nine." "If you achieve that, you get a decent part drop. So, every time, there's a decent opportunity for you to progress, and that solves a great challenge that we have in the past where if you didn't come first in a series of races online, you're kind of like, 'Well, I'm done. I'll just try my bet somewhere else.' Now, everybody has a chance, and I'm serious, where we've seen this, everyone has a chance to claw that back victory because the first five events are about building the best vehicle you can for the showdown event. The very last event is one where you put it all on the line, and there you're betting on who's going to win." Star Wars: Galactic Racer launches on October 6 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. Had a nice chat with the devs at Gamescom. Very excited for E-Day!
Gears Of War: E-Day Had To Solve One Big Lore Problem – How Do You Get A Lancer Into The Game?
When Gears of War first debuted in the Xbox 360 generation, it introduced the world to the majesty of the Lancer weapon. A gun with a brutally effective chainsaw mounted to it, the Lancer has become the defining symbol of the franchise, and in Gears of War: E-Day, players will get to see just how that weapon came to be. In the established Gears of War lore, the weapon was created a year after the events of Emergence Day. That created something of a dilemma for the developer, The Coalition, as they had to give players something that reminded them of the classic weapon while telling a story that takes place during Emergence Day. The Solution? A Lancer prototype that's introduced in the game, and has roots in Gears of War literary stories. "Wherever possible, we've just done everything we can to respect the canon, right? The scene where Tai uses a chainsaw in a grocery store to kill a Locust is part of the creation story that was in a book, but we've lifted it--like all the dialogue--everything is intact in our game," creative director Matt Searcy said to GameSpot. "So even if we have to do like a small retcon, we just lift it and drop. We took the moment, we took the dialogue, we took everything about it and just said if we have to make a change, we're going to respect it as much as we possibly can, and if we need to connect the dots between two things, we're going to." https://youtu.be/SRFE0gCsgLg "We have to have a Lancer in this game. In the lore, it's created a year after E-Day by Marcus' father, so we find ways--like we revealed in our campaign preview where a prototype is built around E-Day--so we can feed into all of those things. It just takes a little bit of care and attention, and then there's usually a great creative solution to be able to respect all of the hard work that's come before and all the things the fans are deeply attached to." The book that helped inspire the story of Gears of War: E-Day is the 2008 novel Gears of War: The Aspho Fields by Karen Traviss. In it, Gear soldier Tai Kaliso uses a power saw in combat, and that action eventually goes on to inspire the creation of the chainsaw attachment for Lancer rifles. The book also covers the battle in which Dominic Santiago's brother, Carlos, dies, giving The Coalition an established starting point for building Marcus and Dom’s relationship throughout E-Day. "What it gave us was a really rich jumping-off point," Searcy explained. "So we knew E-Day is a plot point, two-thirds of the population dies, the monsters come out of the ground, and it's a cool concept. But we needed something rich for the characters to be based on, and that gave us a really strong starting point in terms of understanding where Marcus and Dom were before this game." While the story campaign has been a big focus for the early marketing of Gears of War: E-Day, we're not entirely convinced yet if it'll tell the definitive Gears story that sets up the entire franchise. The multiplayer might be where this prequel truly shines--especially with the overhauled movement systems--and you can check it all out for yourself when Gears of War: E-Day launches on October 6 for Xbox Series X|S and PC.
